I purchased of of eBay as a preorder

Could you find a way to post a picture? as a community, It would be best to see the picture before we can judge. Once there is proof and we deem this a fake, you can use this post as an aid if necessary. Ebay is pretty lenient on returns though. as long as you have a valid reason, you can return anything even if the seller stated no returns. Please post a picture and send a link to the item you purchased as well

Is this real, it doesn’t look to me??

It looks about the same as my BAM book

Thank you for posting.. I cant say this enough, its ALWAYS good to be skeptical when buying from a reseller, no matter how good this looks. You seem to have a real copy. Unless we all have fakes. Yours matches up exactly with what others are receiving

Is this the US edition?

If so, is that an otherwise blank tipped-in page that comes before the half title and title pages? Does it have a UPC sticker on the back of the dust jacket?

The other Bono thread has the characteristics of the US edition.

The copy I received is US edition, with yellow blank page before signature, and a sticker UPS code on back of the book.

Forget the yellow fly leaf - they all have that.  If the next white page is blank except for the signature then it is the US signed edition.  The unsigned editions don't have that extra page. The unsigned editions go straight to the title pages.

Personally I'd rather have this edition than the signed-in-store ones.  The in-store ones are far easier to forge since they were originally issued as unsigned and have no other features to support the signature.

Extra signed blank page + special UPC on the dustjacket = confidence about authenticity.

And BTW, I don't think the signature in yours looks anything like the forged ones at the top of the thread.

Personally I would rather have the signed in store ones. But only because I bought straight from the stores. Like I got a copy from Uncle Bobbies the first known store appearance where he wrote "I" SURRENDER "2U" before his signature. I also grabbed a few copies from Parnassus in Nashville and called the store. I dont like the tipped in ones as the yare so impersonal. with Bono just taking a stack of Book pages and signing. I have a tipped version aswell and you can see the evidence of the previous pages being signed as he had a stack of paper. Still cool though. If people are not good with U2 signatures than they should steer clear of the in store books unless they have a good hype sticker that references the particular store and the autograph is matching perfectly. another thing I would ask for is a receipt from the store

I agree that in general, signed title pages are better, and your special one is great.

But his signature is so simple that most people would be far more confident with the tipped-on version. Heck, we have people here who are still nervous about that one...

With all due respect to the buyers of these atrocities, those are bad forgeries.

Personally, I am happy wirh the tipped-in American edition I bought at a Barnes & Noble. It has the extra page that the unsigned edition doesn't have, and it has the special UPC sticker on the back.  Plus, the description on the sales receipt includes "signed".
