My signed Sopranos tshirt failed Beckett authentication, which is a bit of a bummer as I thought it was a sure thing and it feels like the best part of $200 down the drain.

Maybe I was too enamoured with having landed a dream item, but I've become pretty familiar with the signatures of the Sopranos cast and was sure these were real. If they're not, there's a master forger out there and I applaud their creativity to include some of the minor players along with the Exec Producer.

I wonder if any of you have any thoughts, particularly regarding next steps? I shan't be throwing good money after bad by asking PSA to take a look, but I should have the protection of requesting a refund via Paypal. That said, there's still a part of me that wonders if Beckett have got this wrong (though I appreciate this is probably wishful thinking). What would you do?

Any wisdom gratefully received.

Not new or surprising. Self education...

Writing on fabric is often a challenge because you are forced to write slow and carefully and data points like flow and speed, which are critical to authentication, are lost.

Send it to SWAU for an online opinion: https://swau.com/products/autograph-verification

+1 true observations all

As Steve Zarelli said, fabric is tough. The Gandolfini here doesn't match up well against my JSA photo or my Donruss Fans Of the Game signed insert card, but from what I've seen his authentic signature is sloppy and not consistent.

There are several other things that give me pause here, the Jamie-Lynn Discala abbreviated signature does not look like any of the authentic examples I've seen.

The fact that you got this for what you suggest was a too good to be true price and the lack of provenance are also huge question marks.

I would say to myself: if this is authentic, how was it originally obtained? A cast party or someone connected with the show would be the most likely answer.   But over 20 signatures all neatly signed without any sign of ink error on fabric?

If something seems to good to be true...

I saw the same re sigs but on fabric...

Thank you all for your feedback during the course of today, which has been really informative and instructive.

I wish I thought to ask in advance of sending to BAS, but I thought it was pretty much them or PSA or don’t bother- interesting to know there are other options out there.

I’ll wait for it to be returned from BAS and will then weigh up my options. I’ll be sure to let you know what I decide.
