I would like to start a discussion on this product offered by Sports Cards.com titled POTUS 2025 A Word From The President. They did this before in 2020. Just curious of other peoples opinions of this. You dont know what you are buying initially from Sports Cards . Once open you might or might not get an actual word hand written from a President.
The pictures are just a fraction of prices realized. Just do a search on ebay Potus 2025 a word from the President.
Thanks
Randy

I noticed they made similar cards like this for Martin Luther King Jr. (and other historic figures) where they called them relics and authentic pieces of signed documents. Technically it is correct but the piece you are buying is a piece of the document that is NOT signed by the subject. Instead it can be typed portion of the document or a part written in another hand. The full document before it was cut up was signed by the subject but instead of throwing away the unsigned portion of the document they decided to benefit financially but cutting the remainder up and try to claim it’s important since it was originally part of a hand signed item. Kind of tricky but it becomes obvious when you see typed portions or photographic portions (from like brochures or flyers) as the enclosure in the card.
I believe these President cards might be similar. Because many of these Presidents lived in an era where typed documents didn’t exist yet (no typewriters yet), the document would be written by an assistant and then authentically signed by the President.
My understanding is you can get either a piece of a document or an actual clipped word from a document.
The pictures I showed are actual words. And people are paying ridiculous prices for some of these
I don’t know if posting links is allowed but I can never figure out how to work out properly posting photos or screenshots on this forum. I do not own a computer and always use a mobile device so that is probably why I have so much trouble.
Anyway, I found this auction where it clearly shows what happened and what you are buying. A signed Dwight D. Eisenhower letter was cut up and you are buying an unsigned typed portion of the letter. Since the seller of the card decided to look up the full document where the cut piece originated you have a much clearer idea of what you are buying. If you bought the card as is you might be easily mislead until/if you decided to look up the link provided on the back of the card.
Some of these cards do include actual handwritten words from the President especially if they cut up a handwritten document entirely in the Presidents hand.
You are correct and here is a link of an actual word from Eisenhower
