I was just wondering what everyone’s experiences and thoughts on Garry King was in regards to Beatles autographs. I’ve only recently come across him and he seems a real nice guy and will give details on his views, which is refreshing.

really honest and nice guy.  Quite happy to share his knowledge

Garry is a longtime friend and really cares about collectors. He's pointed out forgeries to me that were quite hard to detect. And he was the first person to point out a machine-signed autograph that was subtly altered from a genuine one and signed in pen: a 1992-3 Dylan. It could fool almost anyone unless you saw the original.

Is he respected when it comes to authenticating Beatles autographs?

The top Beatles expert is Frank Caiazzo of BeatlesAutographs.com. And among the top are Paul Wane and Justin Cornthwaite of Tracks, and Roger Epperson of SignedSealedDelivered. Roger does authentication, including online opinions for $15. RogerEpperson.com

I dealt with Garry when I first started out collecting autographs. I found him to be very knowledgeable, honest and generous with his time. All positive experiences from me. I have bought from him and used his quick opinion service several times.

Hard to go wrong with Garry. He's better at authenticating than spelling his name.

My experience wasn't great. I bought a signed McCartney Tug of War with his coa. Wanted to get another coa with Roger Epperson who declared it fake. I told him that I had a coa with Garry King. After I declared this Garry told me McCartney autos were very hard to detect and he agreed with Epperson that it was indeed fake which voided his coa. Was really disappointed that it turned out to be fake. It turned me off of autographs and even collecting Beatles items for a long time. But you can make your decision on him.  🙂

Propstore.com auction house in the UK (which has started doing rock and roll memorabilia auctions) states that for many signed items:  "the autographs in this lot have been professionally authenticated by expert Garry King."

Maybe he's better on Beatles, but he approved these HORRIBLE Springsteen fakes last year and they sold for big bucks. (He also approved other bad ones I didn't post).

I wrote to the auction house and they replied that they double checked these two with Garry and he stands by them.  Wow.
