Michael Jackson drawings (Miscell inc. 'Historic portraits' and 'Disney characters')

I'm noticing a sudden influx of MJ signed Michael Jackson drawings coming on to the auction market, which seem to share the common themes of either 'portraits of historical figures'  or 'Disney characters'.

Both of these themes are of course recognised from Michaels' drawings both at a young age and later in life, but it is interesting that so many new drawings are being released on to the market at the same time.

Here are some current examples:

Michael Jackson (1958-2009), Ink on Paper

Signed (lower right)

Image Dimensions: 15 x 10 1/4 in (38 x 26 cm)
Frame Dimensions: 18 3/4 x 14 1/2 in (47.5 x 36.9 cm)

Provenance and Authentication:
This collectible has undergone a rigorous forensic evaluation. The signatures were carefully analyzed across multiple criteria, including ink deposition, material aging characteristics, stylistic consistency, and historical alignment. The findings provide a sound basis for authenticity and historical context, and the piece is accompanied by comprehensive documentation supporting both its provenance and verification.

This striking ink drawing by Michael Jackson, the "King of Pop," presents a minimalist yet instantly recognizable depiction of his signature dance pose-legs crossed and toes poised on the ground, complete with glittering socks and high-top shoes. Executed in confident black lines, the image encapsulates the movement, flair, and rhythm that defined Jackson's stage presence. Below the figure, Jackson has added his bold autograph, merging visual art with his personal brand. Such drawings are exceedingly rare, offering not only a symbolic representation of his performance style but also a highly collectible, autographed work of art from the icon himself.

The fake-MJ-signed copy of a post-memorial fan painting called 'Going Home' is up for sale again on Liveauctioneers, from a Florida-based seller with ridiculous estimates ($50-$75k), and minimum bid of $10k.

This fake-signed drawn copy was first discussed in this thread on p64.

This charming hand-drawn depiction of Snow White, boldly signed by Michael Jackson, captures a uniquely personal side of the global icon.

A new fake on ebay.com, which is a near-copy of the cover portrait on the book  'Kunstwerke von Michael Jackson'.   Size 27 ins x 20 ins.  The starting price is listed as $100, but at this price the 'reserve is not met'.  (Note: The MJ Estate says that 'there is no evidence that the drawings in this book are genuine'.  This ebay item therefore appears to be a fake copy of a fake).

Now that the MJ Biopic is out, I've noticed some new fake 'MJ' drawings by a forger whose work was first described near the beginning of this thread.  But these appear to be new drawings.  Listed at Williamson Auction Gallery in Florida on Liveauctioneers, with a $225 starting price.

Has there been an increase in activity since the movie?

Hi Steve, Apologies for my slow reply - I've just come back online today. Following the MJ Biopic launch , I'm seeing more general  discussion of MJ art online, which (sadly) invariably mixes genuine MJ art eg Chaplin drawings with fakes from all sources. I have seen more (maybe 10-20% more) 'new' fake drawings on auction sites eg Liveauctioneers, but I suspect this is partly due to newly-created fake drawings, and partly due to new sightings of older 'unseen' fakes which are now perhaps being re-sold. (Sales and re-sales of most MJ -related items online and at auction were significantly reduced after the release of the false-allegations 'doc' Leaving NL' in early 2019).                   I'll add a couple of images- one copy-fake (plus fake) Mickey Mouse drawing from a video of mixed MJ fake and genuine drawings on Tik Tok, and one Mickey Mouse 'wink' (with the wink removed) drawing (with a previously discussed-on-this-thread fake signature) which I don't recall seeing before, and which is currently on sale at G*tta.

I should add that MJ was a genuine artist, who had great respect for other artists-  from the classics to modern, and from Disney to comic-book art.  I am sure that he would not trace Disney characters and then sign these drawings as if they were his own original artworks.

I meant to add the G*tta link for the 'Mickey Mouse 'wink'' drawing  (with the wink removed), in the G*tta auction ending on 16th May '26: (Lot 94)
