A significantly tape damaged set just sold for £2295 inc buyer's premium. Assuming they are genuine what do you think of this price? Would you ever want to own something like this or would you rule it out due to condition? Was wondering what people thought about this. Cheers

Makes sense to me.

what people forget often is that in real life this is a lot of money  and not everyone has unlimited funds to purchase a pristine set.  However, it would have been good to have seen close up of the sigs before bidding.

I have a set with some tape damage (not as much as this one) so makes me wonder what it is worth. But it shows where the market is right now. It's not the worst set I have seen and there have been much more illegible sets on sale over the years.

I wonder if there’s any way that could be restored.

probably but its very expensive

I would keep it as is...If you give it to a restorer he'll have to reink a lot of the autographs...that means that most of the ink will be his...not from John...Paul...George...and Ringo. It shows wear...lots of vintage sets have tape marks...it shows it's age...it gives the set character...there are TOO MANY pristine sets of Beatles "autographs" on the market today! If you restore the set...you'll destroy the integrity of the piece. Leave it...get it framed and matted with a nice photo from the period...and enjoy it.

At least find a way to remove the tape otherwise it will continue to eat away at the paper.

i agree with Jim, - it will lose its character if its restored

I cannot tell from the photo but it may be just the tape stain you are seeing with the tape long fallen off. I have a tape stained set (first complete set I ever bought) where the tape is also long gone. I didn't bother trying to clean it up as I still regard it as a reasonably large sized and bold (if not pristine) set. Also nice to have such an eccentric large (5 inches across) John.

That’s good the tape is gone so no further damage will occur in that manner. Looks like a nice set of Beatles signatures too.
