A little of my own history first which is needed to understand where I was mentally at the time this vinyl was initially acquired.

16 years ago, I decided to part with my sports memoribilia to pay for college. I completely lost interest in anything related to sports since my childhood heros were all retiring and I became sick of watching many gain weight and do nothing but complain. I had also just met my wife and started a new life. I sold off Jordan and Kobe autographs that are worth thousands today. This fire sale only made a small dent in student loans overall 

Anyways, I had recently met Harold Ramis who finished a cast signed Ghostbusters photo. I did not like how he signed in a dark area and figured I would add it in with selling my sports collection. It was so easy to complete my cast photo that I thought it would be easy to get done again. Such a bad decision. I'm not a reseller and had no clue what I was doing. I listed everything at auction for 99 cents and let it all ride. My Ghostbusters photo sold for only $80. I know it was a mistake to pack it up and ship it out but honestly thought it would be a fun challenge to complete again and letting it go would be my motivation. The bright side, im able to share the joy of my item with someone else.

Harold Ramis would suddenly pass away Luckily I had 11 other stand alone signatures from him. Bill Murray however became almost untouchable. I quickly had insane regret which built up after every passing year. To rub salt in my wounds, I also came across my original cast photo posted in this forum by another member who purchased it. I tried adding him as a friend just to communicate and check in, but never received a response. Anyways, all this regret fueled my comeback into the autograph hobby So, in a funny way which you will understand later, I owe selling off a large portion of my collection to the completion of this vinyl. (Also a huge amount of other signatures I never thought possible over the last decade) This regret is also why I vowed to never ever collect for monetary reasons again. I began this hobby back in 1991 collecting for myself and never gave value a thought until others convinced me to sell for a better life which may or may not have happened depending on perception.

Looking back a few years later, I still had absolutely no regret selling off my sports items and I honestly don't care about the value they would currently have, but letting the Ghostbusters photo go continued to haunt me. I would literally think about it on a daily basis and was obsessed (still do). Starting In 2014 I went on an insane quest to find a completed Ghostbusters item to add back into my collection. I was literally checking eBay for new items every 10 minutes for many months. This is when I found an auction for this vinyl cover signed by all but Chase and Curtin. I ended up winning the auction for only $350.

The cover came from Louisiana damaged slightly, I was told possibly during Katrina but damage history doesn't much matter. It is what it is. Luckily salvageable without water damage on itself but the signatures were all partially hidden under what were pieces of another vinyl cover stuck on. This is probably why it sold for such an amazing price.. luckily, most of the damage was on the other vinyl cover that was stuck to this cover.

Over the next month, I carefully and slowly scraped away pieces of excess vinyl cover that was stuck on, bringing this cover back to life. It turned out much better than expected as this cover was protected under the other damaged cover. Basically a miracle. There are some creases and edge damage but overall in great condition considering. The  damage from the stuck on vinyl cover is still most visible in places on the lower right quarter...

A few years later while researching signatures more extensively, I found articles about how New Orleans hosted SNL for a week. The show was a disaster but was heavily promoted. Articles show other examples of items signed at that time using the same pens and markers used for the signatures on this cover. After this new research, all doubt was removed. This was the real deal, signed in New Orleans during SNLs second season. This is why Bill Murray was included by Chevy's picture. I'll add links and photos below

My hunt for Jane Curtin was always a serious matter but it ramped up after having obtained Chevy Chase. 10 years ago, adding Chevy was a pipe dream. Luckily something changed and he started having private signings. I was way to scared to mail this in though. He was set to do a convention in Chicago a few years later and I was all ready to go. He cancelled at the last minute and the convention refused a refund haha lesson learned about conventions... In 2025 he had another convention, thankfully he did not cancel this time. (To make that weekend more memorable, I had just met my 2 sisters and a new family I never knew I had thanks to a DNA test but that's a whole other story) It was an intense weekend to say the least.

So in April of 2025, with 1 signature left to completion, I felt it was my duty for all of us to get this finished. Jane is not easy to track down but she does make appearances once every few years. I searched for new events every morning hoping something would pop up. My big break came a few months ago when I saw she was one of the short story readers at the Mahaiwe Performing arts center in Massachusetts on a Friday the 13 of this February 2026. Not only did I have to avoid related superstitions but a huge damper was knowing she lost her husband last year and this would be the first Valentine's day in over 50 years alone. I felt this could have ended up being a disaster of a trip if not handled the correct way.

I searched for channels to try and reach her however I could before the show. I will never mention my source on here but I found a few ways, all still uncertain. I created a long letter detailing my love for her work and SNL in general, also our daughters goal for creating her own SNL like content on YouTube (we will see) and how this vinyl will serve as inspiration and one day handed down to her.. I sent this to certain individuals hoping the message would be relayed. I also contacted the venue multiple times and, while they understandably could not give specific advice, they were willing to take my item to her before the show and ask in my behalf (I was not comfortable with this)... February 7 arrived and we headed out. I never did receive a response from Jane in any capacity.

A little more context. I went through a long period of trying to better myself and figure out exactly why a am the way I am lol. Well after some testing. I was diagnosed with ADHD as well as having a double mutant MTHFR gene which means I can not process folic acid. Long story, this also contributed extreme mimicking ADHD symptoms in other ways. This explains so much about my entire life.. Ive explored every aspect of this and realized the impulsiveness has been a huge driver of why I'm obsessed with this hobby and SNL specifically. Also why it is not possible to let things go. This realization has made me take a huge step back with purchases and hunting new releases. At first, I wanted to quit altogether but after some reflecting, that wouldn't be the best solution. I need to continue doing what I love but just in a healthier environment. 

So without any confirmation, we turned this into a family trip and meet friends along the way. It was probably now or never for Jane Curtin, but if I failed, we would still have great memories and it wouldn't be all for nothing...

Feb 13th came. We were staying in a motel right next to the venue so I had all day to prepare and be on site. I talked to the box office and, knowing who I was and why I was there for months, were gracious enough to hint she would be arriving at 530 and I could pick my item up after that if she agreed to sign or not. A round about way of giving me a definite time without directly exposing her. I was very thankful for this. It was cold out lol.. we spent the day researching pens and markers a bit more. Spent over $80 at various stores to try every one. I settled on a basic sharpie oil based acrylic paint pen because it was smooth and dried much faster than other options. If signed in my presence, it could be controlled not to smear. I mistakenly didn't consider how the cold temperature would affect paint flow. I had a silver metallic sharpie set if it was handed off in the venue.

We arrived just before 5pm. Stood around scoping out everyone. I was certain I saw Jane Curtin 4 different times with 4 different people passing by lol. My wife was even confused once and she's awesome at recognizing faces. We saw another guy sitting in his car, he got out and was waiting around like he was also there for autographs. I went up to talk to him and met Rob, a great guy who was there hoping to get everyone involved. We had an awesome chat and it made the hunt much more entertaining. Hopefully he sees this post. Rob, thanks again for spotting David Costabile. I didn't have anything with me but he did sign a blank card for me. 

A few minutes later. We spotted a venue worker near a parking area. I went up to talk to him and he was in charge of parking for the performers. Jane Curtin was set to park right there if she followed directions given to her from the venue. At this point, we were certain to see her. Rob and my wife spotted her driving up and I went on a crazy rambling search for the pen and get everything ready in time. Tested the pen and the flow seemed great at the time. I look up and Jane was already walking up to us. Rob called out to her saying how she had to look at the amazing item I had. Jane looked at it and gasped, looked up to me and said, are you Justin? (Lol) Quickly corrected her and she looked at my daughter and said hi Vivi, with out knowing who she was. And pulled out a pre-signed postcard already made out to her. This means she somehow received my previous message even though we didn't receive a response beforehand. She was going to hunt us down someway... This is when I lost it. As a father, knowing how inspirational this event could be for my daughter. I couldn't even breath for a moment... It's all on video as my wife was filming. Jane looked at me and said stop that.. gave me a hug and I found a way to compose myself. Lol I did not expect to get emotional like that. I guess it should be expected after the huge effort I put in to make this happen.. Jane took pictures with us, signed a Coneheads cover for Rob and went in. 

Now being my usual ADHD self, I instantly regret using that pen. For whatever reason, it didn't perform as expected for Jane's hand. I also instantly questioned the inscription and wondering if it turns this into something that is only for me, not Vivi, not my family, not anyone else when I'm long gone... I also replay every detail in my head because, I've learned, that's just what ADHD people do. I have no outwardly physical hyperactivity. It's all contained within my head and it means I will always second guess everything. This is why I mentioned removing the inscription in the other thread. 

We are home now. 5 days after this was signed and it's safe. I can look at it and am honestly happy with everything. The inscription means the world to me. The pen, while not completely fluid, weirdly matches the other signatures as most are imperfect. Jane has a small signature and I knew it wouldn't stand out from the rest no matter how great the pen was. 

Overall, the trip was 2770 miles total visiting with 4 different groups of friends in various places on the east coast. We spent $2300 total in 10 days. Would probably only have been $1000 if I went alone but instead turned this into priceless memories. Our daughter will never forget this experience, all of which was her 6th b-day on the 10th and was tied in to the celebrations.

I'm not Happy with showing an emotional side as it doesn't come out often but this is a huge accomplishment and should be enjoyed by everyone. This community is a big part of what kept me going over the years. Kept me active and I want to celebrate with all of you. This autographed cover is for all of us to admire, I'll just hold on to it and keep it safe haha.

So, giving up my Ghostbusters signed cast photo for $80 was probably the best decision I made...
