I have a Morrison autograph. Bought it 10 years ago. Anybody have any opinions about the authenticity of it?

I have compared it to known signatures on Doors stationary, checks, and Christies auctioned signatures and it matches up all the way down to the age of paper and ink. The paper looks 40 years old. Ball point pen. Would love to have someone authenticate it or give me a value of it. Thanks.

Great reply, Josh. But to explain—I'm not that cynical, and I tend to take people at their word here. It's that to me, Thingfish was talking and acting like people from the forgery idustry who try to discredit the legitimate industry.

If I thought at he was just a collector and being upfront, I would not have been as confrontational as I've been. And perhaps I was wrong...not sure.

Dude,

You need an attitude adjustment in the worst kind of way. And i hope that you know that by making the remarks that you made that you strengthened the case against you as some scumbag who is involved at ANL trying to discredit others, probably that Greg Vanderdeuche. Anyway to respond to your last comment, you said that you were looking for opinion from pros (experts) but no one here claimed to be one. Well first and foremost, no one, ever Roger, is going to call himself an expert, it could turn others off, instead they present their credentials, which basically prove their expertise. So not only Roger but basically every guy on here who knows music items, has given you an opinion, all of them bad. What you need to remember is that these people that are giving you these opinions are the same ones who work for PSA, JSA, etc, and they do this for a living, so you did get an expert opinion for free. Secondly people here are not sheep, as i have found first hand, and they dont just all agree with Steve or anyone else. They agree and disagree based on their opinions. I have had many call an auto i thought was real fake and then just to have the other half say it was real. Who cares. So your item is probably not real, your out 100 dollars or so you claim. Everyone gets burned. But you took it to another level to throw around insults when you were the one asking for help. Then you say that no one here can answer you that it is fake. Are you kidding? Everyone here answered you, you just didnt like the answer, they all said it was fake. I also like how you stated that either your item was real or the"best forgery ever". The only reason you even knew enough to say that, is because you are relying on someone elses informed opinion that they stated earlier, otherwise you wouldnt have known it was even a good attempt at a forgery. So basically you had no idea what it was. You also have to notice how the commentor was nice enough to give you the opinion that it was the best attempt he had ever seen. If this individual wasnt as knowledgeable as he was, he would have just said, oh yeah thats real because it looks like 99 percent of the real ones. But no he didnt say that, he caught the flaws in it, and pointed it out. Why? Because they know their stuff. And you will see that if you try and get this authenticated at any of the big companies, and no that doesnt include coaches corner or ANL. The experts at PSA and JSA just gave you their opinions.

Comments like yours put me and im sure others over the edge because they are so ignorant. their is a guy like you over at startiger by the name of autographhound who does that crap all the time. If you dont agree with him then your uneducated, but yet his opinions you should value as good as gold. And the fact is you both are morons. And it is for that very reason with the startiger crap that i came  to this site. And i found that the people here, were very welcoming and educated far beyond anywhere else i had been. Steve was especially nice and helped me out with anything i needed to know. So you have no idea who you are insulting and it is you sir who need to keep your whole shut. To insult the people helping you is like biting the hand that feeds you. You stated in your last post you got most of your autograph info from this site and a few others, so it would serve you right to get banned from here. Since you dont like it, and its owner, Steve, then dont use it. I for one love reading controversial threads as it is very interesting, but i hate reading insultive ones, expecially to those that are trying to help. Wouldnt you want to save about 200 odd dollars in authentication fees, which is more than you paid for the auto, by getting your opinions here from the same people who are ultimately going to give you the same opinion at JSA or PSA. Hello, Roger is the guy who does most of JSA's if not all of their music items. And you got his opinion which is negative. And PSA and JSA pretty much think alike as they are both extremely knowledgeable. Bottom line is, your item is probably fake. Move on, no big thing, it sucks but weve all been their. But we all do not throw insults and pitch tantrums when we dont like the truth. I take offense when you insult my friends as im sure you do yours as well. So if you dont like it here, keep on moving, im sure ANL has a place for you!

Chris

Here are the three letters that I find to be the most inconsistent, and the closest matches I could find.

Good job, Ballroom. Side-by-side, the M and S are most telling of all.

Cool comparison Ballroomdays67.  I like your thought process and your willingness to further the discussion.  Too bad Thingfish turned out to be a jerk.

There is one currently available at Fraser´s Autographs auction. Comments?

(I´m not going to bid...)

I would not bid on this one either. This looks like another nice attempt but I am skeptical. I am sure someone will buy it.

I think you're making a wise choice.

I hadn't looked at this post in a while but I will give my thoughts if no one minds.

The Christies signature is not authentic in my opinion.  Look at the writing and you don't even need to look at the signature.  He does not write like that.  Here's a good question to ask too; why would he say cheers?  He's from CA not the UK.  This and the one from Frasiers; which I do not believe to be authentic (in my opinion) were done by a forger from PA years back.  He was the first person I saw with the ones that said "Cheers".  Look how the one from Christies goes uphill and the letters start out large and get smaller as the name goes on, that is not a lizard king trait.  Hope this helps.

Some new bad Mojo Risin' fakes on Ebay now. Buyers beware. Man, I wish Ebay had a rating system for autographs where folks could go and vote on an items' authenticity - no comments, just a simple yes or no system. I'd love, love, love to expose the hacks. Every day I see bids on bad, bad fakes of all kinds.

True. But still...I hate seeing blatant fakes go for hundreds of dollars! And ultimately, they will someday figure it out and pass the buck on to the next unsuspecting sap. Bums me out, man!

I'm sure this guy knows it is fake, and he doesn't want to be the one holding the hot potato. A lot of people figure, when they realize their item may not be authentic, that they are only part of a chain of owners and it is not their responsibility to stop the passing of the fake item.
