Hello Everyone,

Can I get an opinion from some of the resident experts in this wonderful community about this pencil auto of Babe Ruth?

If opinion is "Genuine"...what would a fair price be on a pencil cut of the Babe.

I believe that there was also a conversation that was had on why a pencil cut was not as sought after as a pen auto.  Can someone elaborate more on this point?

Thanks again for all the value added.

Lucky.

I do not think it is authentic

I agree with Terrier. And if I can tell it's probably not real, there's a decent chance it's not that good.
I hear we may be wrong on this, Terrier. I'll let you know more when I do.
Steve, I don't see how anyone who didn't witness the Babe signing this can be 100 percent certain that this is authentic. So we are left with opinions. I see the letters being slanted in different directions. And a non typical height the second b. that is why I question the signature. Let me know what you find out

The guy who got it signed called me.

OK...maybe not. It's got a recent JSA LOA, but they could be wrong. I'm far from experienced on Babes, but like you said, the differences in slant between Babe and Ruth really set me off, and Babe looks too slanted to me.

I don't mind the second b, but I don't like much of anything about Ruth. Look how the loop of the R is pointed, not curved in any way. Have you seen that before? And how the hump of the h has a tight loop and looks like an e. And Ruth just looks signed a bit too slowly to me.

JSA is obviously an opinion.  It doesn't sway how I feel about the signature.  What bothers me about the second "b" is the slant, and the fact that it is higher than the R.  there are some out there that approach this, but they are at least slanted properly.  but most of the time the R is the high point. If I were looking to add a Ruth signature to my collection, JSA or not, this would not be the one I would add.

How big is this signature?  It appears to be framed and if it is larger than what Babe is used to signing it may explain the atypical appearance.

Thanks for all the valuable input on the Babe Ruth Pencil Autograph. I would image that an INK Ruth autograph is more desireable than a PENCIL Ruth autograph. If this cut is the real deal...what is a fair price for a Pencil auto cut as compared to Babe Ruth signed in INK?

Thanks again,

Lucky.
