On December 2, Julien's Auctions is selling The Collection of Tompkins and Bush. The collection contains 465 lots of Michael Jackson memorabilia, 287 of them autographed.

Michael Bush and the late Dennis Tompkins were Michael Jackson's costume designers for 25 years, during Jackson's most successful period. They were the consignors of the signed Thriller jacket that Julien's sold for $1,800,000 in June 2011.

Almost all of the autographs in the Tompkins and Bush sale are a variation I'm not familiar with. I've only been looking at Jackson's autograph for a few years, though, and we have members here who have collected him for decades, so I'd appreciate your input and exemplars.

If you know Michael Jackson's autograph well, please look at a few images below from the auction and let me know what you think. Even better, browse the auction and upload any similar examples you have: http://www.julienslive.com/view-auctions/catalog/id/77/

Julien's is the world's premier auction house for Michael Jackson memorabilia, so they would know his autograph better than most of us. I'm just surprised I haven't seen this style before.

Thanks for your help.

Darren and Bush have running my last nerve!

LOL Steve, if it weren't so sad.

I noticed this days ago.  Just want to make note of it, and apparently Michael Bush's mindset.

Many times in signing his book, Bush has used what I've occasionally seen people over the years (in the United States anyway) use to informally write a symbol for money - the backwards 3 with a line vertically running through it.  A variation of this symbol - $.  At least that's been my experience.

I just thought it was telling.  And sad.

Love for Michael turned to love for $$$$$$.

DB,

Yesterday on page 19 you said:

Although one question that you have yet to answer were all the reasons you were provided by Darren Julien which you claim were confidential.  I also understand you have had conversations with the Jackson estate and supposedly they aren't interested.  Maybe you could post the communication as well.

I forgot I said yesterday that I'd reveal what Darren Julien told me and asked me to keep confidential during our call a week ago Saturday. I'm doing it because it's clear he has said similar things to others, so it's no longer confidential.

Darren said that the reason Bush has so many things signed by Michael Jackson and the autographs look so different than normal is that Jackson often had procedures done by Dr. Klein and another doctor (I forget the last name, but I think it started with R), and he would often stay at Tompkins' and Bush's house afterwards to recover. Jackson would be on drugs during his recovery, and they would take that opportunity to give him lots of things to sign.

That's it.

I want to reiterate that I NEVER tried to contact the Jackson estate, let alone had conversations or any communication with them. Where did you hear that?

Thank you for sharing this Steve. I find it interesting that Bush felt the need to have Michael Jackson sign his own iconic rare, valuable and historic clothing supposedly sitting in a box under a bed at Bush's house, as well as some other stuff Bush had sitting around his house (like Kim Field's albums and Michael's Pets) while he was under the influence instead of letting him rest. I also find it remarkable how Michael's supposed autograph looks amazingly like Michael Bush instead of Michael Jackson.  I think this reasoning from Darren Julien is disgusting, that Michael would be taken advantage of like this for what reason? I don't believe this story and the signatures speak for themselves, inebriated or not, that is not in the hand of Michael Jackson. Even as Michael left these offices of doctors, he signed stuff and it looked like his own authenticated signature, not Michael Lee Bush's.

My feelings exactly Michelle, and further more what kind of a friend would take advantage of a friend in such a state,, jeeeez

If a official doc is signed when the person is not fully aware of their surrounding, not  in their right mind, those docs are classed as invalid!! So even if what Darren says is true, on that alone those items should be removed, period!

Not that i believe anything that comes from Bush or Darren Julien, We have had a run in with Darren Julien in the past, his story contradicted Mrs Jacksons at that time,,

Darren is out to make a buck of anyones back,, a fan purchased good from the Carolwood auction, payment was demanded from her before shipping quote would be sent, once she paid the shipping quote was in excess of $900, she asked me to drive to rocking boxes, i collected he goods and shipped them to her, with insurance for $80.00.

This person was told if she did not pay shipping within 60days she would loose her items,, another person had same problem see comment here.

"Purchased a pair of Les Paul's Altec 604's @ this auction. The speakers were packaged by Julians for me since I am located in the East Coast. Long story short, the speakers were placed sideways in a box with only loose peanuts and single ply cardboard inside. I paid an arm and a leg for these "Iconic" speakers only to be giving the run around. I am out over $1,300+ and have not been given a refund or a phone call back, NOTHING at all. All about profit and not the customer once they get your $ "  http://youtu.be/qrQCu0S1ty

What story did Darren give that conflicted with Mrs. Jackson's?

He repeated same as these furniture people, furniture belonged to Michael, but Juliens sold it http://www.tmz.com/2010/01/14/michael-jacksons-insane-interior-desi...

Thanks. iPad doesn't support a flash, so I'll look at it tomorrow on my laptop.

Are you saying the speakers were ruined when you recieved them?

Also, re MJ under medication, in the state of MA when under medical care by licensed doctor, and  you no longer have and understanding of your surroundings, the state becomes your legal guardian and nothing you do or sign is considered legal unless the state basically co-signs

wonder if this is true in bushes state?

The story was not believable to me, either, based solely on what the autographs look like.
