My husband and I bought a whole bunch of memorabilia from an exclusive military bidding website because he's in the military. I was considering selling them, however, after doing some research I came across few websites about Chris Morales (forensic examiner) who authorized items that are not authentic. We trusted the military website (Army Airforce Exchange Service) so we figured its legit. Now I'm concerned about them after reading so different law suites against this guy. I'd also like to advise AAEF as well to stop doing business with him as well if what he's selling is not real. How do I go about finding out if the items we have are real or not? I have whole bunch of baseball and boxing items. Your feedback is much appreciated. Thanks for your help.

"AtAuction" was "AlwaysAtAuction" until they changed their name and format around Sept. 2011.

When they were known as "AlwaysAtAuction" Chris Morales, Ted Taylor and Drew were their "authenticators (what a freakin' joke!!!)."

When they changed the name of their company to "AtAuction," they stopped using Morales, Max and Taylor, and started using Stephen Rocchi.

Very helpful info -thank you! I'm trying to get my refund back from AAFES, still waiting to get a reply back. Do you know anyone in the Los Angeles area that can give me something in writing that these are fake in case AAFES questions me? They have a 30 days money back but I'm way past that time frame. Thoughts? Thanks!

my only thoughts are that they are despicable...... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hKs-2dRVqak

Would you like to shoot him now, or wait till you get home?

I love that episode Fudd, "it's DUCK season!

Kristie,

I am in the service as well. I notified AAFES when I first saw these items. I also personally met with the President of Always at Auction, John House more than 2 years ago. I told both that these items were forgeries and even showed Mr House authentic examples of each. They both still stand behind the crappy COA they have and just claim all other authenticators have a conspiracy against Chris Morales because he authenticates items cheaper which allows them to offer autographs cheaper.

None of those signatures are authentic and both AAFES and Always at Auction know this. As long as they continue to find Forensic Document Examiners to bless off on these items they will continue to sell them.

Rick, thank you for taking the time to write me with the update. I guess at this point I will have to consider these as a loss. It's sad that AAFES will not stand by their soldiers or at least get second opinion on these items. Just curious what did you end up doing with your items?

Kristie,

I knew they were fake when I saw them. I did buy one when I found a Mantle closing for something like $10 so I could have it examined and furnish AAFES with expert authentication. Mr. House was nice enough to let me go on a shopping spree where I was given a grip of photo's. I grabbed samplings of the different autographs(Mantle, Williams, Dimaggio, Ali) and a sampling of the different authenticaters(AAU, STAT, Burczyk and TTA). They had not yet started using the Chris Morales or the Rochi crooks. I posted most of the pictures.

I sent many to Mr Crykin who might have them framed and hanging in the AML headquarters. I destroyed the rest.

Wow, at least you did put as much investment as we did. I'm surprised AAFES is not doing anything about it. At least now I know and won't make that mistake again. If you hear any update or know of anything else keep me posted. Thank you for your service by the way. Not sure which unit your with but hope your not deploying anytime soon. It really sucks when you have a family.

AAFES is making a percentage of the sales by this company who runs all the auctions....not just the forgeries.

Thank you. No upcomming deployments for me. I retire in May.

Lucky you! Congrats on the upcoming retirement! Well deserved. Make sure to have few cold drinks and do plenty of fishing..... Keep us in mind as you do but enjoy the benefits at the same time. Again, thank you for the service and looking out for the little guys like me our in the world.

I do warn every Soldier I can about purrchasing these items. I hope you now do the same.

I continue writing letters to AAFES monthly. They no longer even reply to them. I wrote and called the Army Times. You might want to try that to. I send them a leetter every once in a while. I just keep copies and just mail the same one over and over. Maybe they will eventually publish one of them.

Yeah, I e-mail them too but no respond either. I will help with the support as you said and warn others and continue writing to AAFES. I'm sure if enough of us do it they'll eventually do something about it.
