i have seen many autographs that didnt look authentic in my opinion but were certified authentic by them, mostly from JSA, some not even close in my opinion! All authentication companies are only giving their opinion and we must remember that. No body can guarantee an autograph is authentic unless we witness it getting signed our self. Honesty i rarely buy autographs and only consider items a little more when authenticated by PSA or JSA. I mainly do my own research on determining authenticity by comparing authentic signatures but like i said, for me personally if i dont see it signed i usually avoid it. See if you can get an opinion from Roger Epperson. hes the best i heard. i dont know how he prices or gives free opinions on so many autographs but its worth a shot! i hope my rambling has helped lol

JSA and PSA screw up on just about every level way more than they'd admit.  I'd only put a moderate amount of weight in their opinions.

Of course JSA and PSA have been wrong many times the percentage of course will never be known.  Having said that I think they are useful when used properly.  The problem I see with PSA and JSA is that you often do not know who is actually doing the evaluation and their qualifications to do so.  I have never bought anything with a LOA from either so not sure how they work.  The stamped items often merely have a little card with a number with no idea who said it was ok.  All you have is the the company states "they" think it is genuine.  Personally I believe there needs to be a bit more openness on the part of both companies.  I have seen authenticated Jackie Gleason autographs that I would not buy even though they have been certified.   I do not know enough about music autographs to comment on the ones you have.  I would think that JSA and PSA when they do decline an item owe it to the person to give a reason.  If they told you an individual signature did not pass and that person is not even on the item then I feel they need to take a second look.  At the end of the day JSA and PSA will exist only as long as collectors (not sellers) have confidence in them.

Well, if all they can say is that one signature doesn't work out, and that particular celebs signature isn't even on it. I would think that this would be a cause to re evaluate.

Harlan,

Spend $15 and have Roger Epperson look at it online www.rogerepperson.com. He's the top modern music authenticator. he knows the long-time big names in country well, so don't be concerned if he doesn't know the lesser ones. It's pretty safe to assume they're good if the big ones are.

What makes you feel they don't look legit, as far as which ones, and why you believe so? Thanks for your help and input!

Hi Harlan.

Let me make a few suggestions.

You probably should pay Roger Epperson to get a quick opinion to be sure, but i see alot of things that look bad to me on the guitar. I would also suggest, posting a separate thread on this guitar. Right now alot of sharp collectors see the psa//jsa title and may not be interested in looking at the thread. They probably dont know that your guitar is in the thread.

So i would suggest going to the "authenticity opinions" section on the forum and start a thread asking for opinions about your guitar. Use some of the major names on the gutiar in the title, it will help in getting attention. I can assure you without a doubt, that if you get a concensus on this board as far as authenticity, it will be far more accurate than jsa or psa. Not to mention that some of their experts are members on this site. So thats what i would do to start.

Now for my personal opinion. The first graph that caught my attention was Garth Brooks. The proportions dont seem right and i have not seen alot of Garths where the name is so scrunched. Just looking around, the Kenny Chesney also looked a bit off, as well as the Johnny Cash and Merle Haggard. And the Tracy Lawrence formation seems off to me as well.

But i have to tell you that i am by no means an expert. Anytime i see a guitar signed like this with tons of big name stars, alarm bells go off. And it may be that i am just being to critical with these signatures b/c my alarm is already up b/c of the item signed and the number of signatures.

To be sure, i would definetly post a thread about the authenticity of the guitar itself, and then after that, if you still wanted to be sure, you should go to Roger Epperson.

But i hope its real, and if they are forgeries they arent bad forgeries, so i may just be being to critical here
