Took a gamble on this little number. It popped up online for pretty cheap, so I grabbed it. It hasn't been shipped yet, but according to some members of JJ's fan club site, it looks good. Said to be from Big Brother's start up era. Any opinions? If it proves to be fake, he promises a refund

Did you purchase this from Pop Culture Signatures?

Yeah. I would advise you to cancel the sale ASAP. I would also suggest that you search this site for info about Pop Culture Signatures.

No problem. I don't think that you're going to get many opinions on this site. Apparently there just isn't much interest in Janis here. I'm certainly looking to purchase one, though. Unfortunately, this one does not look authentic to me.

Looks good to me

Can you post an authentic example that compares favorably to this one? It doesn't look like any Janis autograph that I've ever seen.

That would be less than 10% of the value of an authentic Janis autograph.

This does not look authentic in my opinion. I am moderately familiar with Joplin signatures, and the formation looks wrong to me, especially in the last name. And as ballroom mentioned, that amount is so far undervalued, that the seller would literally have to be crazy to sell it. Its like getting a cherry Ruth for 100 bucks. Hope this helps

Found this. Looks the same to me. It was on her collectors site.

If you want to know for sure, id pay Roger Epperson for his quick opinion. He is the best i know of when it comes to Joplin.

That one doesn't look authentic to me either, but it does appear that the two were done by the same person.

This one is from Heritage Auctions.
