Hey Everybody,
I've been collecting autographs for about 10+ years now and it gets really frustrating when there are signatures that seem close to authentic, yet something still doesn't feel right. I've always been interested in handwriting in general, just every day people's, how each different person writes, signs their name, etc. so I guess that is part of why I enjoy autograph collecting so much, along with the idea that the person whom I admire actually held the said item at one point in history and put their official stamp, their signature, on it. Anyways, I agreed to buy these two pieces attached, but before I pay the seller, I'd like to get some feedback on these signatures, I know there are several people on this site that have Freddie Mercury/Queen autographs that have been authenticated... Freddie Mercury while his signatures were all similar, they did vary a lot, some being very carefully signed, each letter readable, while others are faster scribbles, how he did his Fs and Ys at times, and it makes it so hard for me to tell the real ones from the fakes... and as much as I'd love to own a real one, as Queen has always been my favorite band since I was a kid, and I think Freddie Mercury was the greatest entertainer to live (tied with Michael Jackson, who he recorded two songs with that have never been official released unfortunately) I sure don't want to spend money on a bogus one and give it to a thief... Anyways, I'll stop my rambing... Here are the autographs and Thanks to everyone in advance for their feedback...
Take Care,
Brian
You did the correct thing by checking first. I do not see any similarities between these signatures and authentic signatures.
Thanks James, I appreciate you taking the time to respond. I'm kind of new here and don't post a lot... Yeah, these signatures didn't sit well with me either... However, in the back of my mind, and because of course I want/hope them to be the real deal, because I've wanted a Freddie Mercury autograph only forever, I think how I know myself personally, when I sign my own name, it can vary from signature to signature, if I'm in a hurry, don't care about the particular thing I'm signing (probably like most celebrities that are tired of signing autographs for everyone, haha) etc. Also, when I have gotten people's autographs in person, things that were signed only seconds apart, a person's signature can look wildly different from the other, even though I know it's from the same person... especially people that just scribble their signatures... which seems to be a big trend with newer celebrities, or established ones just as they get older, again, just tired of taking the time to really sign their name proper anymore... I just mention all that to get your opinion, take on that? How that can make it even harder to authenticate if an autograph is real or not. I just ask as an autograph collector curious and seeking other's opinions, that's all... Anyways, Thanks Again for replying to my post in the first place, I appreciate it greatly! Take Care!
Thanks A.B. :) I appreciate your feedback...
