KISS autographed 8x10 by Press Pass Collectibles (Arizona) eBay

Hi fellow autograph collectors,

I came across this autographed 8x10 on eBay supposedly signed by Gene, Ace, Paul and Peter. Do you guys think it's real or fake? Note: Where is the "3" on Peter's signature?

I think they are a reputable dealer too. I've purchased from them on several occasions. However, I've also spotted fakes in their inventory from time to time. With that said, I believe that the same could be said for every dealer I've ever purchased from, save for a few highly specialized dealers in highly specialized areas. PPC has a massive inventory, so it only makes sense that the number of fakes they have would also be higher.

I do not believe PPC is knowingly trying to get fakes authenticated. However, dexter's theory about JSA passing what PSA wont has certainly crossed my mind before when looking at their inventory. This is because when I've looked up the same name, the PSA ones tend to be authentic, whereas the JSA ones tend to look very susptect/unusual.

I would consider that to be a concern if it were an entertainment item but not a sports item.  I would personally prefer a JSA sticker on a sports item, even if PSA did not pass it originally.

JXE, I've basically noticed this with music group related signed items, getting the pass by JSA. As far as the PSA items, I agree. They've been pretty good with authenticated legit items. I've maybe only run into a few getting a thumbs up, that maybe shouldn't have. Authentication mistakes do happen from time to time.  I have more faith in PSA, than I do with JSA.

I have the exact opposite - I have me faith in jsa vs psa.

I'm speaking specifically about the entertainment stuff PPC has.

For example, look at their Christian Bale inventory. The PSA stuff looks pretty typical, but the JSA one sticks out like a sore thumb.

This is very interesting, b/c i believe that most all of JSAs music items go through Roger Epperson. Although he may not see the more modern performers. But they may have someone else look at items besides Roger. I do agree with you dexter though, and what others have stated regarding the occasional fakes slipping in. I have purchased from them before, and i was often surprised at how low some of the starting bids were (if i am remembering right). The finish bid was always about normal though, so i guess the low price was to entice people. I certainly hope JSA isnt doing this, but you just never know nowadays

I think the Bono's are bad.  I presented these in another thread.  Other than the butt-ugly first one you posted, I've probably seen dozens of these signed by the same person, and I doubt it's Bono.  Exaggerated loop in the "o" on all of them and no idea how to finish the supposedly "rushed" sig.  Same awkward characteristics in all of them really give it away that something's wrong.  I don't think Press Pass is the only one selling these JSA stinkers, but I'd have to scan Ebay again.

This Roger Waters doesn't look legit to me. It starts off looking ok with the R in Roger, but after that, it just appears he winged it a little with the loopy swirls with the o in Roger and the a in Waters, along with how he ended the signature.

but I guess enough about that, since it has already been discussed before. We kinda got off track about giving opinions toward the original Kiss photo, asked by Vince. Sorry Vince, didn't mean to get off track with help to your photo in question.

This is not Ace's signature!

When I asked for opinions on the U2 and Alice Cooper signed photos, I should have posted it this way, so you could see a side-by-side comparison. One thing you'll notice, each have almost exact guided signature lines, like it was quickly traced from an original copy, underneath the photo that was being signed.

Yeah, when you put the Bono's side by side, it becomes even more obvious.

This Bono forgery almost looks to be from the same source.  The Clayton and Mullen signatures aren't even remotely close.  Notice that Bono, Clayton and Mullen all end with the same pen stroke.
