buddy got a game used Steiner Jeter for around that price. Jeter is so high though. I wouldn't know.
Really nice signature on what looks like a perfect baseball, if you're looking to add a Jeter to your collection then I'd say that's an ok, maybe a bit high, price to pay. I'm looking to add a single signed, sweet spot Jeter to my collection and I wouldn't pay that, but I'm cheap.
Thanks guys. I was looking at a 90s era signature, ended at $239.00 but I missed the auction so lost out on that one.
There are cheaper ones out there I'm sure, but I'm trying to find nice full signatures like the one above so they are definitely hard to come by.
$289 would be a great price for that ball. Beautiful.
I appreciate your input Ryan. I'll think it over, but the ball does look great.
that is one sweet ball........I am still amazed at how his signature, considering how many there are out there, still maintains its value
I agree, Jeter is a tough one. I guess you could make the same argument about Mantles/DiMaggios- so many were signed yet they still have held their value.
the difference is that Mantle and Dimaggio signatures are now limited (at least the authentic ones are).
Jeter is still signing.
That is true also. I wasn't into baseball signatures as much as I am now when Mantle/DiMaggio were alive and signing, but I am pretty sure they were signing a lot as well.
I'm not defending Jeter's value, I agree that the price comes down to supply and demand; but I think his value will be similar to Mantles and DiMaggios in the distant future. What I find strange is that some Jeter autographs cost just as much as a ball signed by either Mantle or DiMaggio.
You can get some really great deals on Jeter autographs on Ebay if you can afford to be patient.
Of course, we all have our preferences.
I know, us collectors aren't all that patient.
I certainly agree; there was a couple I was watching that sold below $250; problem is, I am picky when it comes to Jeter- I like the signatures that don't have much "skips" in the signature. This one was bold and full, so I wound up purchasing it. More than I wanted to spend, yes, but I think the quality of the ball and signature will make up for it in the long run. At least I hope..
There is definitely no shortage of Derek Jeter autographs.
