all I can see is "signed on river street outside of Yankee stadium at a public signing" no date but two pics of him signing. I guess I can message the guy. Does he have different styles of signatures? I saw a PSA/DNA ball where he signed his full name and not "Doc" .. I know Strawberry has some different sigs.
man, I had a big reply and it dissapeared lol. But I was saying thanks for all that info and that the PSA/DNA signed ball I saw was his full name but everything else had the "Doc Gooden" sig. So now that I know that part is good I need to figure out if the actual signature is good. It would suck for someone to have a site and have a sticker/database system of their own with pics of people signing and it's mostly Yankee and Mets players and wrestlers. It looks like he goes to public signings but also has private signings himself... what I don't know is how a Yankee player can sign with someone else if Steiner has a contract with that player like Nova , does that mean he can only sign steiner? also I would guess if he was able to sign other things that weren't steiner or a baseball card or in person at the stadium or wherever not at a private signing that the quality control wouldn't be as good wanting him to pump out as many sigs on balls as they can get... Even on baseball cards I've seen his signature look as sloppy as that baseball I put up and then I've got a triple threads auto that looks much nicer (like the steiner sigs) but the card is numbered really low (unlike the sloppy ones) sorry for the book...thinking out loud and trying to figure this stuff out.
I have a Gooden sig where he signed "Doc", I believe that is how he signs now.
Gooden will only sign doc now unless you pay the extra money for the inscription to have him sign dwight. Just went to a signing of his.
As a side by side comparison, here is a ball from Steiner with same inscription...I have two Gooden 'graphs (one steiner ball, one on a 1986 team photo Steiner/MLB auth)...both signed Doc...neither have the 'oo' in Gooden that look like the one in the picture you posted. However, in the Steiner pic i'm posting here, you can see the pronounced 'oo'. I'm guessing what you posted is legit, but i'm not expert!
Not really sure why anyone would forge a Dwight Gooden signature, as I've seen him sign for Free or minimal price at a show (like 25-30 bucks)...the ball alone will cost ya $12-15. but hey ya never know...What's this guy charging? You can pick up authenticated Gooden balls fairly cheap. I got 3 single signed baseballs (Gooden / Strawberry / Carter) direct from Steiner on Cyber Monday 2010 for $99 total...doubt they'll ever have Carter that cheap again for obvious reasons, but it's worth checking on their deals.
this was allegedly signed at a public signing outside Yankee stadium (not sure the year) and the guy wants $30.00 for it I believe. Maybe I should check out Steiner and see what they are asking now for a No hit inscribed ball. Thanks for all the input. It's why I love having this place to come to
(nevermind the pics I posted..they are really small.I couldnt get the big pics to copy)I know these pics mean little but these are pics attatched to the auctions. He had 9 Gooden balls and all are sold and had 6 Nova balls and 3 sold and one watcher. The first two pics come from his Gooden auction and the 3rd is Nova. There was another pic of the guy who runs RC Collectibles himself but didn't post it. He seems to have a lot of stuff on his website with the data base and has a lot of JSA certed stuff but these are only given an authentication from him which means nothing to me really. Oh well, and yeah I looked at Steiner, mounted memories and a few other places and all the Gooden balls for sale look the same pretty much. I don't know about the Nova ball, I'm surprised someone hasn't chimed in on that yet.
You can prob get a better deal on ebay...one with steiner cert/hologram just sold for $20.50 with free shipping...I would stay away from the China balls like Steve said, too.

I will take the advice on the china balls.. I mean is it quality you're talking about or do sigs tend to wear on them or what? Obviously they aren't going to be as nice as the top line Rawlings balls. Can't beat 20.50 and free shipping. I'm looking for a not hit ball in particular being a Yankees fan but I could also deal with a ROY ball to go with others I have inscribed like that (other players) I haven't been collecting balls very long, like a little over a year seriously collecting so I still have a lot to learn. I had pretty much just stuck to photos and cards signed before that. Thanks to everyone for advice on the balls and sigs. I have one signed bat that was given to me by a friend (I have nice friends lol) it's a Dale Murphy 82,83 NL MVP inscribed Black Rawlings big stick in silver ink and JSA authenticated.
The quality is poor and signatures tend to fade/bleed over time on the synthetic surface. They are also a forger favorite because they are so cheap.
Most serious collectors avoid them like the plague. You are better off paying the extra $10 and getting a real MLB ball.
thank you for the advice as I intend to be a serious collector and don't want crap. I will pay for quality. I'm not going to say this guys stuff is bogus because I have no idea but from what you tell me about the balls themselves I don't want to pay for something like that and the Nova sig looks sloppy either way (real or not).
