You are welcome. I'd like to have one of the contracts. They are pieces of music history.

As with Joe DiMaggio, forgers just cannot seem to get the first "J" right. When comparing the books to the known Whitten pick guard examples it is incredibly obvious from the first letter alone that these are Whittens rendition in the books. Here is a comparison, I have looked over several authentic JLL's in this discussion and I have yet to see him put this particular emphasis on the "bottom" of the J. I have tried to circle it to point it out, but some of this stuff you just have to trust your eyes, and I trust mine. The bottom "loop" on these were done in the same hand:

Here are a few comparisons from the thread to put them in one place for discussion. I'm just having a hard time understanding why this is even a huge debate. The sigs are drastically different, and you would think if he was signing 750 books they would mimic the sloppy contract examples.

How do you know that the pick guard was signed by Whitten?

I don't know who Whitten is, but whoever signed the pick guards that Roger described as being "brought in by Whitten" also signed these books, and that is just my honest opinion based purely off of the handwriting characteristics between the two. These particular characteristics are not present at all in the "known authentic exemplars" that I have seen IMHO.

The same trait I speak of here with the "J" is also visible in the "L"s in the books. From "known authentic" exemplars in this thread, I have not seen this trait on any J's, or L's:

How about this one?

I do not see the particular "Whitten" trait I am looking for in this one. This bottom loop is more of a straight up, straight down which is consistent with the "known authentics" I have seen in this thread thus far.

From the PSA/DNA authenticated "Whitten example":

From previously discussed GBOF signature:

Here's another one by the same seller, HOFCollectibles, also claimed to be in-person:

You have to be careful about who you use for examplars. Here's a link to HOFCOLLECTABLES 500+ listings on ecrater.com. I think we should look at their other signed items before believing their claims that they got the one you posted and the one I posted from them below as being in-person.

Here is what I have. This from 1977 when JLL played Helsinki. I had no chance to attend the show (I have seen him later) so I left a letter including a self addressed and stamped postcard to the venue. A couple of days later I got the postcard back signed. Authentic or "secreterial"?
