Thanks for that, Chad. You've provided another important piece of information. In addition to the seller's claim that the signature was obtained in person, we now have JLL confirming that "it looks like his."

I wouldn't put much weight in JLL's comment. Even so-so forgeries can look to a celeb like it's their signature.

Keep in mind that it isn't just a signature. It also contains a nice, neat example of a "Sincerely" inscription that in my opinion is consistent with the example I posted from JG Autographs.

I'm on the fence here. I think you both have a point. The By Request does have some odd qualities while still sharing attributes of the JG autograph (that looks good to me and they are a company I trust). I certainly can see where reasonable people can disagree here.

This discussion could certainly use a few more rock solid in person autographs with the By Request style, if indeed they exist.

I have 2 in person that were gotten in 1996, but they are REALLY hard to see any details. A very good friend of mine got them.  They have been posted before - This is the album below -

The above looks the IP that I got & witnessed.  Exactly!  Personally for me, unless I see it being signed I can never be 100% sure.  Autographing 101.  These other odd ball signatures I would never trust to be real on someone's word unless its a close personal friend.  But that's just me.  Like Mark, I am no expert, but can only judge similarities on JLL with what I got myself in person.  Some of the ones I saw posted in these threads look way off to my IPs.

What makes you believe that the signature on the debut LP is authentic? It looks more like the earlier TTM signatures than it does this IP signature.

I actually found another autograph I had that was stashed beneath my sheet music.  This was signed about 20 years ago IP and matches up perfectly with and some of the recent TTMs.  I really have my doubts about all those with the big squiggle line underneath.  How come no IP examples have this?

Of the latest ones that Mark Roberts received TTM, one has the big squiggle line underneath. Are you saying that it isn't authentic?

The "By Request" LP also has the squiggle line. What do you make of that?

What I make of it is, they dont look like my IPs.  Whether they are authentic or not, I have no clue.  I wasnt there,  The one signed in purple would be my least favorite as being authentic.
