A fellow member has asked for opinions about this signed 1984 Van Halen album in another thread.  There are things that I like and things that concern me about it so I wanted to post it as a new discussion with the hope that we can get more members to comment on it.  Thanks in advance.

Yes, I am god of thunder on ebay (notice I was not selling anything althoug my items are 100% legit). Do you like the photo of Gene. It is a custom painting that I had made that was autographed by Gene Simmons during the Meet and Greet where he authenticated several items I received from Jeff Danzig (which I have on video). Yes the painting was signed by Gene but I am sure you would dispute it for you wouldnt believe even if it was signed in front of my own eyes. I am sure you could come up with a reason the painting I had made and signed was fake. I love the painting as well as the Paul paintings I had made and signed. I have them framed and hanging on my walls in the house in Buckeye. Thanks Pat Cernich

Roger Epperson,

Daniel Simpson told me you and Michael Frost denied several KISS albums he sent to have authenticated that came from Jeff Danzig (via the Vinnie Gonzales collection). (Althoug he was charged $900 to be told all were suspect.) I am told from Daniel Simpson that there were 2 main reasons you and Michael Frost said they were not correct:

1) Jeff Danzig is not the son of Glenn Danzig

2) Gene Simmons lawyers (that you claim you spoke too) said there was no such thing as a Vinnie Gonzales collection of autographs from KISS just used costumes.

Can you please confirm your reasons for denying the autographed albums that Daniel supplied to you an Michael Frost.

Thanks - Pat Cerncih

I am not sure of Roger Epperson examination and explanation but I am sure he will explain. As for P.A.A.S. we were sent severial signed items to examine and authenticate for Daniel Simpson.

We had these items for over 3 weeks because of the authentication and investigation work involded. I had never contacted Gene Simmons lawyers and I as per Jeff Danzig was not the direct seller nor the source of many of the items in question. I have spoken to Jeff several time in the past year on this and similar issues. I have also verified as told to me by Danzig that he does not sell autographs on ebay. He also has told me that he does not sell many autographs at all but his name is always being used.

This is just to answer the questions above but it has to bearing on my authentication in question. After a full examination of over 25 signed items that I have found in my professional opinion to be not authentic. I also helped Mr. Simpson receive a full refund from the seller of these products. I have a file of the autographs that I examined and the examinations if you would like to have some posted for others to comment on. I think it would be best for you to contact Vinnie Gonzales and see what his take is on the items. It seems Vinnie's name is being used over and over again on many of the KIss signed items in question.

Michael,

Thanks for the response.

Unfortunatley Daniel provided albums from several sources not just Jeff. I had told him some of them were fake prior to sending but he sent anyway. I am sure that confused matters.

Jeff did not want his sources to know he was selling many of the autographed items he had obtained in fear of losing their confidence as a source in the future. He did admit to me that he told you he sold minimal autographed items. I did not understand his motives at the time.

This concerned you and Daniel and rightfully so. But what sent Daniel over the edge was the phone call he received from Roger Epperson. He claimed that Jeff was under investigation by the authorities, was NOT the son of Glenn Danzig and most of all that he spoke to Gene Simmons attornies and while there was the existance of a Vinnie Gonzales collection that is was mostly used items from the band and did not include much autographed memorabilia. That is the focus of my question to Roger. Is that what he said?

Many of the items Daniel did send came from the Vinnie Gonzales colllection that were obtained in large quantities during the first KISS Conventions in the early 90's (it was available everywhere in NY/NJ where Jeff lived). And Jeff bought as much as he possibly could. It was very cheap back then since it was before the era of flipping on ebay. It is easy to identify those that were signed for Vinnie in that the band members take their time (usually) and provided the best autographs available (almost IMPOSSIBLE for a single person to duplicate all 4 signatures). I can spot a fake right away (which I know many of you will dispute which is fine).

I can understand it must have been difficult to examine with multuiple sources represented and the doubt created by Jeff himself and Roger. I dont blame you for your decision. You were caught in the middle. Roger is the point person for the information so I just want to know if what I said is accurate.

Daniel did get a full refund via Paypal but knew many were real (I spoke to him recently and he wants to buy one of each KISS but I promised Jeff I wouldnt sell him any since he opened disputes against Jeff instead of working the issue person to person). I promised Jeff I wouldnt sell him any and I wont for I am a man of my word even though I do like Daniel.

In a nut shell, Daniel is a very nice guy and when you wouldnt authenticate his items that he planned to sell on ebay, he decided to just get out all together. He spent 6K on the items and was in over his head.

Thanks for your time! Pat Cernich (godofthunder on ebay so our scouts dont have to post it again)

Dont worry, you will soon change to another name and try and sell the same forgeries

Pat (kissdestroyer1966)

My examination was in no way was influenced by Roger nor Jeff. I was not caught in the middle of anything, I examined the KISS items that were submitted without Danzig, Roger Epperson, Vinnie Gonzales, or Daniel's stories of providence even on my mind. After my full examination I determined that the signatures were not authentic. ( But in this case I will not beat around the Bush) They were forgeries. I then spoke to Daniel for many hours and heard his story and what he was told and believed to be true.

I then investigated the claims and spoke to many that were involved. Within days Daniel received a full refund and was more then happy with the work and proof I provided him. I do not believe Daniel would once again purchase any Kiss items with documented proof and Letters of Authentication by trusted dealers or authenticators. Where are you going with this story, I do not understand? Are you claiming that the items I examined for Daniel are authentic? Are you the seller of the items in question? I said early, Jeff Danzig told me directly and I believe him that he was not involved in this sell at all. He even agreed that most of the items in question were forged. If you would like to question my examination I would be happy to post the items and hear your explanation. I also would like you to state that you received the items from Jeff or Vinnie.
I nearly bought one of these items off ebay. The seller told me they were obviously from the Vinnie Gonzales collection but he got them from Danzig's son, who had the largest memorabilia collection he ever saw. They were terrific fakes, I'll say that.

Alan,

Two of the items I bought from Jeff were authenticated by Gene Simmons himself and both items came from the Vinnie Gonzales Collection (again on video). I think it is foolish to think Gene Simmons would authenticate two separate items that were fakes. I mean come on, apply some common sense here. Gene is the smartest of the 4 and has a great business acumen. If you cant believe him you cant believe anyone.

The reason they look so good is because they are authentic. The doubters here give Jeff way too much credit. He is not a master signer that can perfectly duplicate hundreds of different autographs from right and left handed artists. That is impossible! I suppose you also believe Lee Harvey Oswald was the lone shooter in the JFK assassination?

Anyway, I don't need to defend Jeff anymore. He will be out soon and hold those responsible for this mess accountable. To those of you responsible, beware, the "Boogie Man" is on his way. By the way, he is not as polite as I am.

Roger, looking forward to your response regarding contacting Gene Simmons attorneys and the existence of the Vinnie Gonzales Autograph Collection being false.

Thanks! Pat

So the person who bought them from Vinnoe Gonzales spent 6 grand on them....and then managed to get zero proof they were from Vinnie Gonzales? And they were so authentic that a Return of Kiss poster was $189??

If I had all four original members from the Vinnie collection...I dunno, call me crazy, maybe, but I wouldn't be letting it go for that.

Perhaps they are real, they looked great, not gonna lie. I just steered clear when I was given the Gene Simmons proof as proof of something else. Hey, check out my Youtube video of Gene authenticating my items that aren't the one you're buying lol...it means nothing.

In your defense, this site is a little "The one you have is fake and mine are real." I'll give you that.

I just collect autographs. I didn't realize this hobby was so...is petty the right word? You're stuff looked great, it did. I just get confused with the whole Danzig has a son, no he doesn't...my mind spins.

From now on I'm sticking with numbered and signed stuff that was authorized. I trusted Alfie Pettit and that was about as far as I can go. No more. Been burned too many times.

I didn't mean to imply your stuff wasn't real, I meant that if they were not they sure were good. I have no dog in this fight and I wish all well.

Alan,

dont even bother trying to argue with this moron. All his items were proven to be forgeries and he still is trying to stir up trouble to try and cast doubts. Yet he has proven to be a fool at every juncture. His only purpose here is to try and stir up troube. His last bunch of lies he tried to spread concerned Roger and ripoff report, which was proven to be in fact done by the forgery community. He has no clue what he is talking about and is just mad ebay keeps pulling his forgeries. Hes not even worth arguing with anymore. Let him continue to talk and he will continue to show himself for what he is.

He is so foolish though that he doesnt realize that the more he tries to defend his forgeries here, the more people are on the look out for him and his items he might be selling. But maybe him and Glen Danzigs son can trade autographs back and forth. They both obviously like selling forgeries.

But i will disagree with you Alan that this site is "mine is real and yours isnt". Quite to the contrary, infact, this site is the best i have been on concerning this. The members here, myself not included, are in many cases experts in their areas and when they give an opinion, its almost always not a random guess. Most all the time they are spot on, and alot of people just dont like to hear that they are forgeries. This particular seller, pat cernich, was told by over a dozen people that all his items were bad. And these people included some of the best in the business. His Guns N Roses forgeries were absolutely atrocious. So he knows well what his autographs are.

I have been a member at other sites as i progressed in collecting, and many sites such as fanmail.biz, startiger, and several others. And many of these sites do give the "mine is real and yours isnt", but i i doubt you will find that here. You may catch the odd member doing it, but when numerous people are saying the same thing, then their is a problem.
:

A little bit of a thread bump here...

I like collecting Van Halen autographs so keep an eye on what's listed on eBay.  Unfortunately, I see a lot of this version still hanging around and hope nobody is falling for them.  I decided to check sold listings and much to my chagrin, over the past few months approximately 27 of these have been sold... 27!  This includes their version of Sam Halen as well :) They seem to run between $107-$180 per album.  There are a ton of crappy VH sigs out there, but this version is etched in my mind, as at one point I came close to purchasing one myself.

Just a heads up to anyone contemplating...

Thanks William.
