Hi.  I am a rock collector thinking of buying this guitar signed by tom petty & band in 1991.  But I have read about all the fakes, and was wondering if anyone out there can comment on this guitar an if its signatures are real.

The pix is attached and hopefully I have downloaded it correctly so you can enlarge the pix (if there is a problem i will repost).

Sincerely,

Pet

A better pix of the guitar is here.

Gentlemen, I am now the owner of this guitar but more questions have arisen particulary the inscription  on the back of the guitar tuning head these pixs show.

If anyone has an idea of what this inscription says and means and by who I would much appreciate it....

Many thanks for earlier comments

Does anyone know how to upload pix so that they are always showing and no one needs to click on to view?

The button next to the edit bar is for displaying pictures inline. Since your image files are a bit big for the site at 2 megs, I'll save the full one more compact and post it for you. The other two aren't needed.
thanks
In my expert opinion I do believe this guitar is authentic.  I knew them very back in 1991 and these are their signatures.

Many thanks Roger.  It wild that you new these guys and you must of got some good stories. 1991 was the time right after  The Wilburys.

and for allthe fakes out there, every once in a while something is real.  The same person has a Heart band signed guitar for sale, and doobie brothers.  If any one is interested, I can provide you with pix for those too.  May be fake, but if the Tom Petty is real, the others might be too.

I agree that in my opinion, the signatures match what I have from the band from that era.

(it is a nice collectable especially that Howie is dead and Stan is no longer in the band).

How much do they want for it?

We havent discuused price yet as I wanted verification.  I figure I would research what a full set od sigs goes for.  I wasnt going ask people here about prices, but since ypu gring it up, anyone have an idea?  BTW, good point on the two members

Thank.  This guitar puzzles me. This guitar is well used and has a sticker on the front of the head that says St. George.  It is odd that someone would give Petty a used guitar to sign rather than a new one.

My guess is that thi well used guitar was given to Petty because it had some meaning to him via its previous owner.  However, I don' think the writing on the head was by a seller, but by whoever gave it to Petty.....

I beleive that the name to the right of Petty is his manager's name.  The writing below, to the left of the Date and to the right I can't figure out...
