DIRECTOR'S, PRODUCERS, WRITERS, ETC. OF THE ANDY GRIFFITH SHOW
Often we watch a movie or television show and admire the work of the actors and actresses and forget they are just the tip of the iceberg. Without the writers, directors, cameramen, sound engineers, set designers, makeup artists, builders, electricians, catering etc. nothing would get done in Hollywood. I thought I would start a discussion of non-acting TAGS autographs. Some TAGS actors also appeared behind the scenes most notable was Howard Morris (aka Ernest T. Bass) who directed several episodes Danny Thomas and Sheldon Leonard were the creators (along with Aaron Ruben) of The Andy Griffith Show and both appeared on the show. Actor Richard Crenna never appeared on the show itself but directed eight episodes. Joseph Bonaduce the father of Danny Bonaduce (of The Partridge Family fame) wrote five episodes of TAGS. Danny actually appeared in Mayberry R. F. D. Ron Howard's father Rance wrote one episode of TAGS entitled "The Ball Game."

Richard"Dick" Crenna also directed the show. As many of you know later on he was in the Rambo movies as Col.Trautman. He also appeared in many T.V. shows as well as movies.

RICHARD CRENNA directed 8 episodes of The Andy Griffith Show. He was great as the maniacal Col Skimmerhorn on the western television miniseries Centennial. I also remember him from the Walter Brennan tv show The Real McCoys. This is an index card I got from jgautographs.

DAVID FORREST (aka Charles David Forrest) 1902-1991) appears in the credits of early TAGS episodes as the sound engineer. Forrest had a long career as a sound engineer in Hollywood from 1929-1976. He worked with Bob Hope, Danny Thomas, Jack Benny and scores of others. He was considered as a candidate for being "Mr. Schwump" but this theory was disproved by his grandson. Nonetheless Mr. Forrest was a very important part of the show and worked on an amazing 122 episodes! Below is his photograph and signature from a 1924 passport document:
