This was 180 GBP  at Dawsons? Does that price sound right to you?

Thanks for the information Eric. The price is extremely low. This photo was auctioned by RR auction a few days ago for 890 dollars.

Still unusually low I think.

Agree. extremely low for a signed photo.

Authenticated by Adam Andrusier.

Too many stop n starts for me, price is also outrageously low . .a definite no for me imo

Thanks for your reply Phil

This RR AUCTION autograph piece was authenticated by the music autograph expert Roger Epperson, so with that said I would say it is not a fake. The fact that the item, a signed magazine photo was at a lower price point than you would think, does not take away the fact that the signature is real.

The market spoke, whatever it said.

What ever that means I don't know. But what i do know is that it was a Dawsons auction item and  that it was owned by the late Franz-Peter Bach, a renowned German autograph collector, and now it's owned by me.

I can shed some light on this one as well as I’m the original purchaser (recently) of it from RR. In fact, it did come from RR Auctions, and for another $100, Roger Epperson is willing to provide his COA but he did quick opinion for me and it was “good to go” which I forwarded to the buyer of my collection. Roger as we know, is the foremost authority on MJ. I didn’t even know about the additional history as shared by the OP.

That being said, several on this forum had split opinions regarding it (and that’s ok). End of day, if the buyer keeps or sells this piece, the documentation and analysis provided by RR Auctions and Roger will far outweigh our individual opinions I suspect.

As to the price, my only guess is that the seller has less than zero clue what he’s doing in the music space (I sold him more than just music in the last few days). He sold one of my authenticated Dylan pieces for about 1/3 of what it should have gone for. He’s a friend of a friend in the Midwest and I made a very attractive offer to unload everything I had (probably more attractive than I should have in hindsight). I don’t want to get into details but I find myself unexpectedly out of work. I had to deeply discount my autograph collection, sold my watches to other buyers, and sold off a vehicle all in the last week so I could sustain financially while searching for a new opportunity.

Anyways, that’s my contribution to this. I felt comfortable purchasing it initially, some here didn’t like it (I respect all opinions) end of day, I usually go with the Major auction houses and on music, for sure Roger with Elvis, MJ, and a few others that he specializes in. I guess we all draw our own conclusions regarding what we are comfortable with. That’s my process. I don’t like to “accuse” anyone here with a differing opinion from the experts. I’d rather just thank them for their time and appreciate their responses.

I said to a couple friends here that I was taking a break. It’s not out of desire, it’s out of necessity. One day I hope to get back into our great hobby but it will be at a much more modest level when things are in a better place for me. Right now I’m stepping away because the more I visit, the more tempted I get to jump back in the game and it’s a game I can’t afford to play in the present moment.

I don’t know if that helps, but I wanted to at least share.

I am very sorry to hear of your situation Doug. Having to sell your vehicle,  watches and collections is an awful thing, and the time spent collecting is irreplaceable. But the knowledge remains, and that is what you will need most should you collect again. Hold tight.
