I think quick opinion is a great tool to use for some of the lesser educated collectors out there from PSA/DNA....I have used it many times myself...but is quick opinion always right ? Please let me know if you ever used it and what your experiences are....I think 8 out of 10 times I have used it for online auction items they have came back "Likely not genuine" but i have received answers of "Likely genuine" ALSO in the past...I am not Knocking this system at all because I feel its really a great tool to use to get what is a quick opinion...but do you guys think its accurate ? Please feel free to leave comments on the subject if you have ever used this tool..

Well this is easy. No opinion is always right. But PSA's quick opinion seems to be a bit more conservative than their regular certification.
Thanks Steve...I sent in an item from auction that had a score board cert with the particular piece I was thinking about purchasing...do you know if score board is reputable authenticating service ?....I have always thought they were since they were around for quite some time....the piece looked good but then again a photo of an item is really hard to judge I think and it received a "likely not genuine" opinion...I don't know..then again I have had pieces that passed and then in turn they did pass authentication..

Always be careful when you find a autograph item on Ebay with a Scoreboard cert.  Over the years people have used the Scoreboard cert to sell their forgeries.  They have reproduced it and even modified it to sell forgeries.  In my opinion, at least half of the items on Ebay with Scoreboard certs are forgeries due to the reproduction and modifying of the old Scoreboard COA.

Here's a fact that not many people know and that is that Mickey Mantle NEVER signed bats for Scoreboard.

This is some great info Mr.Williams...Not seeing the cert. is what made me think twice on the purchase...I stayed away...It was actually a Dimaggio 8x10...it seemed fishy...I never bought or own any thing with scoreboard....thats another reason I wasnt so quick to pull the trigger as well....plus the price wasn't right.....It was much LOWER then what a Dimaggio goes for...all in all I payed the $10.00 quick opinion fee and played it safe as always...

The real Scoreboard certs were small -- Post It Note size and on a parchment like paper. The backside had a watermark.

Unfortunately, they have been easily photocopied and are used with fake stuff all the time.

During their heyday in the late 80s through mid 90s, Scoreboard was like the first Steiner. They had signing contracts with Mantle, DiMaggio, Aaron , Mays, etc., etc. When the father died (Paul Goldin) in the mid 90s, the son, Ken Goldin, took over and they were never the same. They went out of business a few years later. There are rumors of bad material coming from Scoreboard once Ken took over and the business started struggling.

Makes perfect sense...now I know to stay away...like I said it didn't seam right and I went with my gut feeling....and I am usually right...the price and everything didn't match up...some one scooped it up for $50... that's way below authentic prices
