I'm curious what everyone thinks of this ball.  In addition to the unusual "angular" nature of some of the letters, the formation of the upper part of the "g" does not look right.  I am not looking to buy this, just trying to learn.

thanks for your opinion Christopher. I happen to agree that there are things wrong with it, as I mentioned above. Actually, the writing is fairly smooth, that was not one of the things that stood out to me.  But the result is the same!  It has been in my "do not sell" pile for a long time.  I just cant bring myself to toss it though.
Chris is pretty good...he is actually really good when it comes to spotting fakes....it truly is a head scratcher...Iam just not sure personally...you may have to give it a crack with PSA and see what they say...that auto is really tricky....like I said before...I feel its much harder pin pointing an authentic Dimaggio then pinning a flat out forgery...one thing I know is Dimaggio had somewhat of a light and quick pen pressure...that's also another tell that may help you in a conclusion on its authenticity...
There are some that you look at that are no doubters. There are a bunch on ebay right now. Then there are those, like mine, that are questionable at best. I will never feel good about it so it might ad well be a forgery!

There is a cheapie way to get a pro opinion...

List it on ebay for a really high price so no one buys it right away.

Then do a PSA/DNA Quick Opinion and end the auction when you get the results. It may help resolve it one way or another.

I could do that. But even if by some chance it passes I would still have my own doubts.
