I'm just getting up to speed on all of this now and sitting here in shock, just shaking my head. this was expected, but still had hope S&S (and or Dylan's team) wouldn't be stupid enough to attempt this again.. My S&S shipment won't arrive until Monday, Coles and Premiere won't be in stock until much later. Im going to sit on this for bit and not make any rash decisions.
Thank you for all of those brave enough to continue opening packages and also those who are calling and emailing like mad. This is going to be a historic event. Im extremely disappointed that we will not receive genuine Dylan signatures but once im over the initial shock and knowing we can all get our money back, this will 100% turn into the biggest fight against autopens to date. We can't stop. I just registered for a domain, I have plans on creating an autograph site with reviews and TTM successes/failures like the many sites that used to exist years ago. Not for views or clicks but only as a hobby.. Im going to start it off by posting every detail of these multiple attempts at fraud and will have something completed soon. My hope is it would be a great resource if S&S actually does see legal action.
I am furious with how this is all unfolding but as I read how everyone is taking action so quickly, I'm pretty level headed for now. We have to stop this autopen nonsense once and for all. If S&S really had no clue and put all of their faith on Bob Dylan, than every publisher must be made aware of this situation. To put in future contracts that autopens must not be used at all. It will take a lot of effort but as someone who cares so deeply about this hobby, this is long overdue and must be addressed. Hopefully more info will come to light and we will know exactly how this mess started.

Oh yes, thats another huge fight that has fizzled out but absolutely should be associated with this Dylan mess. I have 2 of her Run Rose Run autopen books in my collection to use as examples and will ask others for the use of their photos to post all templates used. It will take some time though.

If you will allow it, id love to post that example as well. Thank you. This is one of the better ones. My wife and I are pros at photoshop and can easily contribute overlay examples for all suspected autopens but im sure everyone has seen this example already. You did a great job with it and it serves as a good example of how overlays and details should be shown

Of course they knew. You don't suddenly pull every sold copy from a Canadian retailer (the biggest in the country) at the eleventh hour (while subsequently proclaiming that you've decided to "go a different route", i.e. corporate-speak for, "Whoops, we got caught out.") without knowing about what happened.
They doubled down, and now they're going to pay the price for it. Those "LOAs" aren't worth the paper they were printed on, and those executives are just as culpable.
These books/limitation pages had been printed for weeks, if not months. This stuff doesn't just get thrown together in a vacuum and sent out days before publication. That's not how any of this works. The daisy-chain to get from conception to deciding on a layout to shipping off limitation pages, to getting them back and sending them to the printer to run off, takes time. One of my most-collected authors announces pre-signed editions of her books 4-6 months in advance, and even those are for 500-1500 copy runs.
The idea that Dylan was going to have a mea culpa and suddenly become a pro signer on par with the legendarily-reticent David Gilmour was absurd. He shouldn't have even approved it to begin with. It's a black eye for Dylan, his management team and S&S. The way I see it, they're all culpable, and I will help this forum do everything in its power to call this kind of behaviour out. There is no place whatsoever for it, not now, not ever.

It boggles my mind that they would release a 2nd time after the Indigo incident unless they wernt aware. I wish I had more info but what if Indigo just told them simply that they will not sell these books? Im just trying to envision every possible scenario and see if 1 actually exists where S&S, while still responsible, wes completely in the dark because of lack of research and knowledge.
