Nice. I was curious about something. What do people here prefer - the blank page signed books like the above or the ones that have a custom page signed like those from Blackwells?

Custom page it's a little more proof that it's authentic when things that are hardbound to a book and binded at production.

I'm not sure how these UK editions are done, but I've seen cases where the "special" printed and signed page is also just tipped-in.

Also, in regard to the recent Bono book, I believe the UK signed edition was just signed on the regular title page, whereas the US edition had an extra (tipped-in) page.

So, it can vary in regard to how much extra assurance a particular format gives.

I'm ambivalent towards both ways of presenting tipped-in pages. Most of the time, it's just done within garden-variety hardcover copies of these books, so there's no special signifier on the outside.

Anytime I get a book with a signature on an otherwise-blank page, I keep as much documentation or identifiers on the book as possible for proof of legitimacy.

i.e. Atwood's The Testaments was issued by Indigo in a signed "limited" edition, signed on a non-designed page. The only indicators you would know if it's signed or not without looking inside the book are the special ISBN stickers that got posted on the back, and the receipt from the distributor themselves. Half the time, the books I get don't have these proof points.
