Surely, this is the most expensive photo by The Beatles ever sold at auction. Indeed one of the finest Beatles signed photo in existence. Signed in 1965 on Balmoral Island in The Bahamas.

Sold for $146,635 including BP by Iconic Auctions

That looks great but I would still be very concerned it could be a very good forgery, especially when spending that kind of money.

Let’s see if the money actually exchanges hands.

Wild, isn't it? But I'd be surprised if the sale doesn't go through. There were 2 bidders and if the winning bidder drops out, the underbidder is generally obligated to buy it based on whatever their final bid was.

Have you ever seen a better signed Beatles photo?

I’ve never seen better. I was offered this for 45k a few years ago. I thought the seller was out of his mind.

The " final bid" post of $146.000 has been changed to a "final bid of $143,059...hmmmmmm

You can only bid at Iconic in 10% increments so the top bidder didn't back out. It may have been sold to someone outside the US, and the difference in price was due to the dollar being worth less against that currency when payment was made.

I don't think that exchange rates could be a factor as the auction was in US $ and payment would have to be made in that currency. Ultimately, $3,000 is neither here nor there in relation to ca. $150,000.

1-2-3-FAW Steve Cyrkin, Admin a pug called eva   Iconic Auctions offers a 3% discount on the buyer's premium if the buyer pays "in full with cash, check or money order". I've done that several times. I assume that was the case here. It's a great auction house; Jeff Woolf is great to work with. I've sold a couple of $20,000+ items, and I've always received the payment fast. Much faster than many other auction houses.

That would have had to have been some buyer's premium - ca. $100,000 by my reckoning - if the numbers 1-2-3-FAW quoted are correct. I doubt that an auction house would bother to adjust it's results for such type-of-payment or fast payment discounts. At the end of the day, they want to attract future sellers with enticingly high past results.

They add 3% if you want to pay by credit card, like most auction houses, they don’t subtract it if you pay by cash equivalent.

Steve Cyrkin, Admin When I get the invoice, the BP is at 23% with the opinion to lower it to 20% if paid "in full with cash, check or money order".
