Adding Chevy Chase to my 45ish Year Old SNL Vinyl Jacket with Belushi, Radner etc...

Just wondering everyones thoughts on adding Chevy to this vintage item. I asked this previously about a mail-in event and decided it was way too risky to get it done by mail. I have an opportunity to meet Chevy in person next month for about $200 I could get my item signed at his table. I really want to get this done, probably cover up Murray's signature with a sticky note with an arrow pointing to the area for Chevy to sign. (Trying to bypass any potential animosity with Murray signing so close to Chevy's picture)

If I do decide to get this done, what would be the best pen to use to try and match the others? Any other tips would be very welcome. Ill need to purchase tickets by tomorrow to save a little money. Hoping I can make my decision before then.

Here's the item again

If he's charging even 5 dollars more for an inscription, DO NOT do it. It doesn't make the piece worth more.

The thing is, im not really concerned about worth. I have 1 shot at this and I just don't want regrets. Doubt I would ever sell this. It will eventually just get passed down unless I hit rock bottom at some point

I could see him signing his name near the upper left corner of his photo.  If he were to write an inscription where would all the words go?

I could see him taking out Akroyd's signature.

That is a concern for sure. I mentioned above about possibly using a construction paper template with a hole cut out showing him the exact area to sign. Wondering if that would work out

On nearly everything I've seen Chevy sign, including everything I have by him, he goes out of his way to find the best possible spot to sign his name so that it stands out.

Got this done today. Used an ultra fine sharpie. I wanted it to stand out but not overpower the rest. You can't really tell on the photo but looking at it in person, he does seem to stand out. I believe it turned out ok.

PSA would add chevy to the existing cert number but wouldn't do ITP cert or an LOA. they also didn't update the photo in the database ugghh.. I should have got the jsa witnessed cert and took care of PSA later but believed PSA would do more for me based on email communication. Can't do a witnessed cert after the fact. Oh well, his name is listed with the others at least.

We also took a photo with Chevy. He absolutely adored our daughter and interacted with her a lot. That alone probably ment more to me than getting his signature. Let me know what you guys think. And is there anyone who knows how to meet Jane Curtin? I found her physical address but its not something you could just walk up to and ring the doorbell lol

Edit.. took off the photo of us. Ill re add it in a separate post so I have the ability to delete it from the forum later if I want

Congratulations! :-)

Looks good, man!

Indeed. Considering all the potentials, this is a clear success.

Would he have used ballpoint?

Thanks guys, he used my marker. He had a bunch of different pens on his table and they urged people to use them instead but I seen a few other people giving him different markers to use. I think a ballpoint wouldn't have been a problem.

If I did this right, here's a video my wife took inconspicuously at his table. He was more interactive during the photo, but this was nice too. He was happy today.

Looks great.  You couldn't really ask for more.

I think the ultra-fine point Sharpie was the best choice.  Ballpoint can fade, especially in light.

Congrats! That’s so awesome!
