Can anyone tell me if this Alec Guinness is authentic? I bought it off a UACC/AFTAL dealer in the UK. Thanks for the help.

I like the "Bridge" SP.

On closer exam and comparing to the bridge pic, I am not crazy about the shape and slant of the A on the SW pic. But it's still small. I can't say for certain either way.

Sorry... Wish I could be more definitive.

for me it must be 'the ladykillers'

the letters do seem very pointed however i have seen nice examples on ealing pics (mainly the man in the white suit) in pink ink,not faded but bright pink

Zipper,

There are a couple of things about it I don't love. The fact that the A arches downwards so strongly is one of them. The other is how the "u" starts at the bottom instead of the top and the short distance between his first name and last name. With that said, I combed through the RR archive and looked at other examples and it seems like he has done all of these things. I wish I could be more conclusive before buying as well. But I've dealt with the dealer for years and he has a good eye for vintage stuff. When I combed examples, that angle at which it is signed seems to be very common for him as well. It's such a sharp slope.

The Obi-Wan photo appears to have been signed earlier than the River Kwai photo based on the appearance of the "A" being more rounded.  I don't really see anything atypical here but like Mr. Zipper said it is a small example of the signature.  Comparing it to mine the "l" seems to be taller but mine was signed in 1978.  It seems as the years passed his "A" became more oval and his "l" became taller.  Give the dealer a call tomorrow and ask about it.  We're just driving ourselves crazy at this point.  Keep us posted.

One more thing.  I was thinking about what you said about the "u" and I took a closer look at Mr. Zipper's signed pieces.  Sir Alec seems to have done the same thing on his Obi-Wan as well.  I'm referring to the one where he signed on the lightsaber.  What's interesting about it is that he signed the two photos at the same time but still created a slight variation on that particular piece.

What's the verdict JXE?  I'm curious since the thread has been silent for a week.

I've got nothing for you. That's the best image I can get without buying it. While I've decided against getting it, I'm guessing it's probably good. However, the peculiarities make me rather want to wait until a more definitive example comes around.

Thanks.  I was just curious since I haven't heard anything.

Any opinions on this one?

Need a bigger pic.
