Purchased an expensive fake autograph! Please help!

Hi

To cut my story short I recently purchased an autographed jersey which I now have found out is in fact a poor forgery. I'm UK based and the seller who sold me the item has been selling these for the last 10 years so I now suspect much of his stock is actually fake with the exception of a few which i believe he mixes in with his fakes to make him look legit.

My question is before i file a dispute with Paypal....What proof will Paypal require from me to prove what I've purchased is a forgery and would I have to send the item back to the seller as that's something which worries me as this seller will just sell it to some other poor soul.

I would rather destroy the item but at the same time I need to be reimbursed as it's quite a considerable amount of money I've paid for it.

Any help much appreciated.

Many thanksDavid

have you tried resolving this with the seller?  that is normally the first thing that Paypal would instruct you to do.

in any case, you will most likely require some kind of documentation from one of the more reliable TPA's (JSA, PSA) stating that in their opinion, the item is a forgery.

Thanks for the reply. I have tried resolving this with the seller but he cannot be reasoned with.

My worry is if Paypal ask me to send it to one of the US authenticators you've mentioned it will mean i have to ship the item abroad from the UK at my expense and the whole process may take longer than the 45 day period to authenticate and ship back that Paypal allows.

Open a case on eBay and state the the guy is selling forgeries. Worst case file a fraudulent charge with your Credit Card company and get it back that way. I always like to scare these forgers and tell them I have notified the FBI of their scheme.

If its an expensive item, go through the motions and get your  money back. Don't give up, that's what these crumbs want.

Open a case with Paypal IMMEDIATELY to preserve your rights! This is a critical first step and do it NOW. Worry about details later.

If you are required to get a TPA opinion, you could probably still use PSA quick opinion. But, typically Paypal will side with you if you want to return it for any reason.

Do you guys not know that Ebay owns Paypal?

any name for this company/seller so others steer clear I take it is a usa based company people on here might know them

Defo put in a pay pal dispute then escalate it straight away, explain the situation and your concerns stating you have tried to reason but to no joy.You should get a refund within days.EBay resolution are a joke

Ebay owns Paypal!! They control what happens.

whats the name of the seller....how do you know the jersey is a fake.

First thing is to put in the claim with PayPal then contact Garry King he used to be able to help with PayPal claims. Then name the seller here

Hi David, I'm sorry this happened to you. Please name the seller so others can avoid his fakes.
