Quincy's is authentic, I took a picture of him signing the records...

That year Prashant sent me 3 records: 2 Thriller LP and 1 BAD LP (this one)

I remember at least one of the 3 had an hologram, but I can't remember exactly, it's been years. I don't remember as well which year, I meet Quincy every year and bring him tons of records to sign each times lol... I'm sure Prashant will find the exact year. (I think it was in July 2011...)

The pix I took of the 3 records don't show the hologram... As I just focused on the signature. I remember it was just to show Prashant that I had them signed.

About the picture you mention, I know when the picture was taken, I just never seen that one exactly, the first time I saw it, is when you posted it.

Nice to have you here Face and  a Face certified statement seems to be a very good thing IMO at the moment as this whole thing unravels

Anyone,

Can you give your opinion on this Thriller album?  Is it similar to the signature style of the Bad album?

I think I've told you before, that I hate this style of MJ sig, because to me, they are easily forged, so I rarely will give my opinion on them.  There are some of course that you know straight up, they are bad (no pun intended).  And I do know there are absolutely real ones in this style (another follower shared some of hers on the Bush thread--Sandy S)... but personally I would never buy this style, and I'm not willing to venture if this is good or not.

Here is the PAAS sticker in the lower left corner of the now dual signed album.  I originally bought it via ebay, then sent it for authentication by Mike Frost/PAAS.  I then had Feisal kindly have Quincy Jones sign it. 

I only remembered it because of the original posting by Mike of the signed album in Michael's hands this morning.  It just floored me because NOW it is a forgery.  Truthfully, ladies and gentleman, you can see here this is another example of why third party authentication should not be trusted.

Preshant it sucks that the TPA opinion changed. I agree with you 100%. I'd be upset. But I was under impression you bought it after Mike said it was good. The way I read this is that you bought it and then sent it in for authentication. So it wasn't bought based on Mike's opinion. I think in all fairness that point needs to be clarified.

The seller I bought this from had given me 3 weeks as a refund policy.  When I actually bought it, I sent photos to Mike via email to get his opinion.  He was actually hesitant at first and thought something wasn't right.  So naturally I sent them to get examined.  Well, thankfully for my piece of mind, it was found authentic.  Now years later, the expert opinion changes and it is a forgery. 

Then my question to you Rick is what value does an opinion hold and for how long?  You go to an 'expert' for their opinion and base it on a level of trust.  Not just TPA...this can be expanded to a mechanic, a doctor, a lawyer, a car salesman, etc.  I am a general dentist and the number one thing that is important to me is the level of trust my customers or patients have for me on not only my skill set (which I am human of course, so I can make a mistake) and but my 'expert opinion'. 

I have found that my biggest success with my patients/customers is when things go wrong (a crown breaks, pain after treatment, dry socket, etc.) I don't go hiding, I don't deny what went wrong, I don't belittle my patients...I strictly acknowledge their displeasure and REGAIN their trust.

Unfortunately with my latest upsets with TPA (you can figure out whom they are) and lack of acknowledgement of the mistakes, nor willingness to correct the situation, I have lost significant if not all trust in TPAs.  Mike knows this full well in my personal emails.  I will strictly go through people I thoroughly trust (like Feisal...amazing amazing guy) or dealers who provide unconditional guarantees.

I feel for you Prashant. I honestly think you have been wronged. You paid for a service and it failed you. I don't blame you for being sour on them.

I have always been very skeptical about all these self proclaimed authenticators. I only use them as a second opinion and that is rare. Most of them just fortunate to have started back when TPA's originated. None of them would crack the market if they started today. If you look at many of these guys they bounce around from major authenticator to the next. All claim they are experts in this person or that. Get half the collecting world to buy off on them while the other half thinks they are crooks. Look at some of the former high members of PSA for example. Steve Rocchi was the President of PSA. Now the guy authenticating tens of thousands of forgeries for AtAuction. Look at some of the goofs who have worked for GAI. Incredible the BS collectors fall for. All these folks just fling dirt and gossip about each other. One minute they hate each other and the next they teaming up to win your dollar. Trying to get one to admit to a mistake is almost impossible. I have yet to see one I think is better than an advanced collector. Look at this thread for instance. Mike keeps email traffic from 2011 yet can't find a P.A.A.S hologram number in his database? Go figure. You have to actually prove to him that you even had it authenticated by him. Posting stories about talking with Corey Feldman and the Jackson family and everyone just takes his word for it. The whole thing just cracks me up.

They have collectors out there thinking these folks main purpose is to clean up the hobby. Yeah right. It's to make money.......even at the expense of the collector.
