Just got a Gotham poster off ebay cast signed. Did a quick opinion through PSA and GA

Came back from PSA likely not genuine and from GA likely genuine. Compared signatures to known PSA certified ones and they look legit to me.

Soon as I get this in I would like to send out to get authenticated. Who do you recommend?

JSA, PSA or GA. Or any others?

Here is a list of the autographs

 1. Ben McKenzie……James Gordon

 2 Donal Logue……Harvey Bullock

 3.  David Mazouz……Bruce Wayne (AKA Batman)

 4.  Sean Pertwee……Alfred Pennyworth

 5.  Robin Lord Taylor……Oswald Cobblepot (AKA The Penguin)

 6.  Camren Bicondova……Selina Kyle (AKA Catwoman)

 7.  Cory Michael Smith……Edward Nygma (AKA The Riddler)

 8.  Nicholas D'Agosto……Harvey Dent (AKA Two Face)

 9.  Jada Pinkett Smith……Fish Mooney

10.  John Doman……Carmine Falcone

11.  Erin Richards……Barbara Kean

12.  Zabryna Guevara……Sarah Essen

13.  Victoria Cartagena……Renee Montoya

14.  Andrew Stewart-Jones……Crispus Allen

15.  Danny Cannon……Producer, Director, Writer

16.  Bruno Heller……Producer, Writer

17.  John Stephens……Producer, Writer

Thanks for your insight.

Jason

Mike,

I would hope that a secretary did not look at it. I was kidding on that. But it would be nice in their email they send you back if they let you know who looks at it. Email was rather plain and Just listed response: "Likely not genuine"

This was the first time I ever ordered a quick opinion. Maybe I was expecting more or a better looking email even for a negative response. Thanks for your time in this discussion, all opinions matter. I will not learn anything with a closed mind.

If psa deemed it fake because the autos are in the same ink and too near then that's so stupid...but I think that's what happened. Ahhhh

Carlos, the sheer number of these fake premiere posters pumped out on ebay with letters from the studio, holograms and numbered tubes 1/50, 2/50 etc. with each tube stamped with the different studios logos and what not. They all have similar feels to them, signatures all in the same pen, on minty fresh posters.

These pieces of garbage have flooded the hobby for the past 5+ years. PSA giving a quick opinion of fake is the safest thing to do, especially if they are unaware of an actual studio issued piece.

It's not hard to compare autos especially if that's your job.
The sad thing is is that this could have ended up in the trash because of that quick opinion

Pete,

I have seen a lot of those myself and have compared signatures and your right the number of these fake ones are great. I do not even look at the hologram ones now. What made this unique was the fact it had no certificate and even better the seller was not in the autograph business.

I am pretty sure that PSA would only look at signatures and not look at anything else such as certificates or descriptions, right?

Carlos,

Your right about the comparing signatures and that's your job thing.

I think what really happened is that GA said likely genuine because they say that about literally everything... not because they knew better than PSA.

And PSA said likely not genuine because without doing the sleuthing that you were walked through the item looks suspicious at first glance. When I saw the first image I thought there was no way it was good and I was pleasantly surprised as the posts went on and the evidence started building. Honestly, it would have been irresponsible for PSA to have said likely genuine without doing that same kind of digging (which never could be expected for a quick opinion).

I second that.  GA "got it right" because they say yes to just about everything it would seem. Eventually, someone unknowing of how their business operates will submit something authentic, and of course they'll bless off on it.  Like Pete said, the GA sticker, at best, is worthless and will more likely dissuade other collectors from a future purchase.

In my opinion, all this provenance you've shown us thus far is actually more valuable than any third party authentication sticker.  Keep all of it together, either digitally or printed copies (or both).  If I was buying, I'd be infinitely more interested in all evidence of this signing than any third party venturing a guess about something they know relatively little about.

Exactly, don't bother with "authenticaters" especially Ga. Keep the Email from golden apple, print the pics.

I agree Rich.  Collectors tend to overthink these things.  I am certainly guilty of that myself.

If you are only keeping it for yourself I would not bother with a TPA sticker.  Also make absolutely certain they do not slap it on the front of the poster.  I  hate that practice but I think most now put them on the back.   I believe PSA is too conservative with their "quick opinions," but that is better than being the other way.  It appears that your poster is fine at least you know there are 8 copies out there so that is a very good thing.  I would not let the quick opinion stop me from sending it into PSA. If you absolutely have to have a TPA and do not want PSA then I would go with JSA.   I am not convinced that such "authentication" actually increases the value all that much at least not with older seasoned collectors.  It might with a deep pocket newcomer buying for a birthday gift.   I have never used any except for PSA and only for quick opinions a couple times in the past.  So I am not certain if they have a better price for authenticating something with that many signatures.  Others may know better than me but I sure would ask whatever one you decide on for an estimate.   Hope you will keep us informed on it.

Did you ask them why the signatures are different on your poster than the one in the photo?
