Iconic Auctions sold this Prince signed Japanese visa application for $4,561 yesterday.
It sold for $630 at RRAuction in February 2010 and for $1,231 at RR in September 2013.

That's a good question, Paul. I suspect with time there will some leveling off. Prices will eventually drop a little but I think they will still be higher than before his death. If one is patient enough, in a couple of years, prices will probably come down a bit.

Steve -- don't always believe those "Sold" prices from Iconic Auctions. Many of their high ticket items appear to sell on their site but then magically reappear in future Iconic auctions (I've seen this happen many times with many different items).
I suspect they have really high reserves and if an item doesn't hit that mark -- they simply put it in a future auction. They've "sold" the same Dylan PSA photo 5 times now -- much of their stuff comes from Press Pass Collectibles who also list the same items on their eBay page at the same time as the Iconic Auction.
Now the Prince signed form may have indeed sold -- but we'll never know for sure. That's why I don't even keep track of their prices realized as they are not to be trusted. I emailed the owners of Iconic and they said "Yes, you are correct -- we probably should say that the items didn't meet the reserve instead of marking them sold. That was over a year ago. Still waiting guys.....

As the consignment director for Iconic, this item was at no reserve and sold. Thanks for your lack of insight.
It was part of a large consignment that I negotiated from a private collector from California. Anything framed/music related was from the same source. He did buy many of his items from Iconic/RR prior. All auction houses have in house consignors and things that may not seem ideal, but please don't just assume things, you can miss out on some really rare items.

I picked up the Carol King for a fair price. That collector had some nice stuff.

I'm sure it'll be like most celebs that pass on. The cost will rise for a time and then level off at a less ridiculous but higher amount than before they passed. I'd hate to be in the market for a Prince item right now.

I think that Prince signed photos, albums and music memorabilia will go higher but Prince signed documents checks, check cuts, won't get much higher than they are today...if not go lower. Prince-signed photos and music memorabilia have always been extremely rare, but there are probably untold thousands of checks and signed documents out there, likely in his archives.
An important piece of info will be what Prince saved and what he threw out. Did he ask for cashed checks to be returned or did he go electronic like most of us did the last 10 years, and even destroy the checks he signed from the 70s-2000?
