Michael Jackson drawings (Miscell inc. 'Historic portraits' and 'Disney characters')

I'm noticing a sudden influx of MJ signed Michael Jackson drawings coming on to the auction market, which seem to share the common themes of either 'portraits of historical figures'  or 'Disney characters'.

Both of these themes are of course recognised from Michaels' drawings both at a young age and later in life, but it is interesting that so many new drawings are being released on to the market at the same time.

Here are some current examples:

DM&AA

Dec 12 2009

Dear Mr Dunn,

My attorney, Mr L Londell Mcmillan contacted me concerning art books that one of your clients, Mr Jason Wallace, possesses.

I am writing to tell you that these art books do contain art drawn by my son, Michael Jackson. There were eight books that were in Mr Wallace's possession, and two others that were in my son's possession at the time of his death on June 25th 2009.

Mr Wallace had a personal relationship with my son and his children, Prince Michael, Paris and Blanket.

Mr Wallace gave my son art lessonsfrom 2006 until his death in 2009, and he continues to personally communicate with me and my son's children to this date.

Mr McMillan has cleared all rights to the artwork in the eight books that Mr wallace currently possesses. Mr Wallace is the lawful owner of the artwork. Mr McMillan is in the process of clearing the rigts to the other two books. Once this is done I will send the tablets to Mr Wallace.

It is my determination that it was my son's wishes that Mr Wallace retains possession and all rights to the artwork contained in the tablets.

I hope that this clarifies any quesions or concerns you may have concerning the art books of whiich you have enquired.

Sincerely

Katherine Jackson

Lizzie,

Profiles in History called late Friday afternoon and asked what I thought of these after someone told them they were not real. They were consigned by a collector who bought them at a charity auction.

I sent them to Wascher to confirm my opinion without telling her what I thought. She got back to me Friday night but PIH closed for the long holiday weekend. They are a very reputable company and will undoubtedly remove these after they reopen tomorrow.

Keep up the good work.

Thank you Steve for your very helpful reply.                                                                                                                 I was very surprised indeed to see these 'signed MJ drawings' at a PIH auction, and I do hope that these items will indeed be withdrawn from the sale.  Sadly it seems that many consignors of fake MJ signed items resort to the same story ie that items have been bought at 'charity auctions /  sales'.  For me personally, this story is now a big 'red flag' when it comes to considering MJ purchases.

Just for comparison, here are the offerings by the same forger via 'Simon Parr Auctions' also on the Invaluable auction site, for the SP auction on 28 March 2015:

And there is another, more similar MJ 'Billie Jean' offered at the Simon Parr auction in Invaluable (at a starting price of £100) on 4 Dec 2015:

I wonder if PIH could work through the 'Invaluable' site to get Mr Parr's auctions banned?
