Authenticity is Everything
Kurt Cobain drawing authentic?
I have been offered this item. It sold at Juliens for a large amount so I am assuming its real but psa/dna said its not likely genuine. It looks good compared to Kurt's writing in his journal writing but its alot to spend to not have experts COA. What do you think?

If there was a Nobel for getting in the middle of trouble, I would have it.
Basically, I somehow learned of the sighed album, new it could go for much more in England so decided to flip it. I put a $1000 deposit on it, and sent photos to a British auction house, who's expert said it was not authentic. I asked for my money back (which I got), but American Royal Arts learned that Caiazzo was the authenticator, and decided to sue him. Then we learned about Morales who's forensic title helped fool me into buying.
The rest you know. Curiously I was never contacted by either side of the lawsuit attorneys. I couldn't add much, but the woman at Royal arts did contact me a month after to tell me she had been fired....

You couldn't pay me to buy from Juliens. They absolutely have lied in the past, about an auction that they were making millions off of (millions is no joke). They were all from the same consignor - one signature was on an item that couldn't possibly be real as the item was made after the real signer died. None of the signatures looked like the signer and today can be picked out easily. When the items were found to be fake, they promised in a news report that anyone who thought they had a forgery could return the item, then ignored the emails, and phone calls. The only thing they said they might be willing to do for a few people was to "resell" the item for them--which of course by then - who wanted them? Plus.... double dip much?

The Ringo star auction was the real deal, but i look at the items they sell for example the fake rolling stones signed lp thats consigned to them and id have to think twice before buying anything from them esp when it comes to items like this which are very hard to authenticate and it's only juliens word that its authentic.

What I don't understand is that this drawing is used on several websites on Kurts artwork and I haven't heard anyone say that it doesn't look good. The drawing is right, the writing and signature is right, so what conspiracy theory are we looking for here? Someone forged this drawing? I doubt it. Did someone steal it? Maybe? Some of Juliens stuff isn't good but they do also sell a lot of real deal high end items.

Ryan if its good its good, however do not use anything Darren says sway you that its authentic is my point. If Juliens sold it, they will state its authentic because he'd lose money also if it came out it wasn't, as the dominoes would fall backward. That is all I'm trying to stress.
No conspiracy. You asked for opinions and we're giving you info to use. Its a lot of dough to drop and I'd want to hear everything there is on that kind of serious money.

Agreed. It's a tough call though. It's a real cool piece but if no one will believe it's real without a letter from Courtney or Frances, what's the point?

I think people on here are cautious, and rightfully so, as they have seen so many ways people have gone to pull one over. It is your money and your decision. You started this conversation by asking for opinions if it were worth the investment without a COA. Well what if you don't get one and you have no lineage to the piece other then Juliens word? I think what Washer said is apt in this discussion. They are just trying to help.

I wasn't trying to imply a conspiracy from any of you. I appreciate all of your help. I don't know much about Nirvana pieces which is why I am asking.I know Beatles. That's what I am used to and I can usually tell a fake pretty quickly. This piece is another thing altogether. I guess I was kinda hoping some people would agree that it's real and that would persuade me to buy it without apprehension.

If you are keeping this for yourself then it doesn't matter, but you are talking to collectors on here and while you specified your thoughts on flipping it in the futurE...I think you have been getting honest opinions on what collectors might expect. I am not saying you won't find a person who won't act in faith, but it may be harder to expect everyone to just go with it. Everyone is here to help. I personally think The Beatles are a smarter investment and easier to authenticate.
