Hello all, this is my first post.

My collecting interests are with 78 rpm and wind-up phonographs and general antiques.

Covid-times has me sifting through my stuff and I rediscovered this Beach Boys publicity image. I bought a box of 78s at an estate sale about 15 years ago. The box had several LPs in it too, the following was tucked inside a jacket.

Note the printed misspelling of “Allan”, at bottom.

I did some googling to find that the above dates from 1964.

I read that they performed in Salt Lake three times in ’64, at Lagoon Amusement Park. I also gathered period signatures. Couldn’t find anything useful about Broadway Music or if the Beach Boys ever appeared there.

In the course of googling, I discovered this forum.

My background is in advertising and I can tell you what I see.

  • This 10” x 8.5” black ink printed image on white pebble textured paper.
  • I assume it was printed locally by Broadway Music.
  • The widest signature is Brian Wilson at 2”.
  • The signatures are pen to paper. A varying ink flow can be seen in all signatures. Also, some faint impressions can be seen on the back of the page. I’ve shown the strongest as an example.

I’m in need of your expertise on these signatures.

Here are enlargements of the signatures for your review.

Who do you think wrote this?

Thanks for your help!

It seems like the Town Square is were the real action is.

I posted the following (my first post) in the Music section of this forum.

I don't know if it has even been seen, so I've moved it here.

Thanks for looking it over.

James.

Moved it back to the Music section.

At least it with the other Beach Boys posts.

James.

I think the graphs are authentic , really early sigs.

Thanks for your input, Paul!

If anyone else has some information to share, please ad it or point me to the source.

Thanks,

James.

I had hoped for more conversation about this. Oh well, I have decided to put this on ebay and we'll see what happens. It ends in nine days if anyone reads this.

Have you attempted to get these authenticated? Can you provide a link to your auction?

Thanks. It's interesting but I'm in the opinion it was not signed by the Beach Boys. I could not find any preprints of that photo online either.

Yea, I was kind of hoping others with knowledge of BB autographs would have replied to Roaring20s inquiry...  cool item if authentic.

It would be a fantastic item if authentic.
