I'd appreciate any input on something that intrigues me.
I'm always looking at Agatha Christie signed items that appear on the market. There are currently two signed books that I've come across at the same time on one of the leading book services. I'm providing images of them.
The first is a personally inscribed first edition PERIL AT END HOUSE Collins/Crime Club volume nicely inscribed on the ffep from 1932 that I have no doubt is authentic (and priced at nearly $20k). The provided scan by the seller is nice and sharp:
This second is on the title page of a 1934 Collins Clear-Type reprint of another Christie originally from the 1920's (and is priced below $1k). Scan is a bit hazy and the ink is obviously very dark :
The second is not some kind of pre-print as this volume has no pre-printed signature on the title page of other copies of it:
I was excited when I saw that ACKROYD at first. However, finding the PERIL inscribed in a comparison search has tamped down my enthusiasm for the ACKROYD. ACKROYD has a strong similarity to the unquestionable PERIL, imho.
What might AL sleuths think of these compared? Thanks in advance!

I am sure you have seen this, but if not it might be helpful. I won't add any more to your thread as you requested.
The first one is very expensive but stunning. I am pretty sure an auctrion house over here sold one for much less than that. Is it ABE books that you found them on? I have purchased a couple of items from them. Their marks ups on hugh
The ink looks very fresh on the second one but that might be cos its dark ink
Yes, it does look fresh...especially contrasted on a page with so much foxing to the paper. There are only 2 of these signed Christie books from this era 30s on the site. The more I look now at the ACKROYD, the more it looks suspiciously too similar in it's execution. Maybe I'm looking at it too much!
