I'm curious to see what folks may think of this signature on a sketch of Anthony Perkins from PSYCHO.  It's an original sketch from the mid-70's and is from the estate collection of the artist.  There are other signed sketches of film stars in the dealer's inventory as well. The signature is "Tony" rather than "Anthony".

Here's the description:

Rare graphite artist’s sketch of American actor Anthony Perkins from a scene from the 1960 Alfred Hitchcock film Psycho. Signed by Anthony Perkins. Additionally signed by the artist, P.B. Socci. Active in the mid 1970s, American artist Pat B. Socci gained a reputation for seeking out Hollywood icons to sign his sketched portraits. The drawing measures 11.5 inches by 9 inches.

Etienne, Since no one else will throw down…I offer my 1956 in person and a later date 3rd party. The signature on your sketch seems in the ball park of the exemplar.

Agreed - genuine.

Anthony Perkins SP C. 1960 vintage signature on a gelatin silver promo portrait signed in sepia fountain "To Elaine" - my Mom's name:) Image from Orson Welles The Trial by Franz Kafka from 1962 from which I have an original still somewhere around here (not scanned) Those are the doors to the Court below in the screencap. Some creasing, edge fading and age tone but still fairly attractive - he is tough in early SP's. Another minor Gem from HD.

Nice early Perkins...and cool to be inscribed in your Mom's name!

HD..History Direct?

Yes Sir. A great source. I have purchased many of my best pieces from them.

One thing I have noticed over time...there seems to be a fairly thriving cottage industry of producing Perkins "signed" Norman Bates photos .

Indeed. It's all "Psycho" with him. Orson Welles The Trial is such a better film. Welles considered it his best.

The description certainly plays up the sketch..."rare"..."American artist...active in the mid 1970s...gained a reputation..."

Heck, an amateur artist drew pictures of celebrities and tried to get them signed.
