I understand the desire to refuse delivery, but we need to catalog pictures and get one concrete example of a duplicate. The more that are delivered and catalog, the more likely we are to get full refunds (and for those legally minded, able to do something in that department)

Right, I’m inclined to accept for now, just out of curiosity. I’ll post if it comes soon but still watching here first.

I just e mailed Coles Books in the UK saying some of 900 of the 999 copies are arriving in the USA and are obviously fake / autopenned - warning them of the backlash and saying they should check them before shipping out as they will all probably be the same - and told them,  this is now the 2nd time S&S have pulled this fraudulant stunt - Somebody is going to have to be locked up for this!

I have given them the same warning, but via a telephone call to the head guy, Nigel.  He expressed his faith in Simon & Schuster, but did listen to my points and reassured me that Coles would be inspecting the books before they are shipped, and would withdraw them if they are autopen.  They don’t have them in stock yet.

Yes that's good - Coles are as always spot on and i trust them with my life!

I can't ever remember this happening with Coles before - but i may be wrong - as we know this is nothing to do with Coles and all On S&S so please go easy on them (Coles) and take S&S to the cleaners if they are fake!

I was very polite about it.  Coles are not culpable at this stage.  I was on the phone with Nigel for 12 minutes, during which time I remained levelheaded about the whole thing, and tried to stress my “credentials” as a longtime collector of both Bob Dylan material and rare books.  It was all about giving him a heads up on the developing situation, and to sound him out on his position.  Understandably, he’s not prepared to stick his neck out until he has sight of the U.K. allocation, but at least he’s primed to inspect the books before shipping.  I can’t imagine the U.K. allocation being any different at this stage, so it remains to be seen how Coles chooses to handle it.

Im assuming then that these 99 Coles copies are also coming from the states via “Snow Commerce”

Were you able to confirm that by chance?

Are there any more copies out there yet or is it just the one so far?

Just me! Gotta say, not a fan of being the first!!

Oh ok, I didn’t realize that was yours! I missed that and thought pictures came from somewhere else online. Hate to see that, I’m still planning to accept mine at the moment to see what we’re dealing with (multiple templates? Same?)

Thank you for posting! I’m awaiting shipment but haven’t cancelled mine yet. I want to make sure that there are plenty of examples to provide proof of fraud. The great thing about this group is that everyone has your back here and will help to make sure you have recourse to get your money back.

We should start a lobby group, a thousand collectors paying 100 dollars a year membership and instant class action in case of fraud. It would send a clear message to any company trying to pull this s*** again.
