CSC Collectibles, ACE & Rare and Signed Make it to EBAY's Banned List

3/15/2012 Chose to update the thread with the other two discussed in comments below that were also new additions to the EBAY banned list.   More nominations in the works.

I also confirmed with EBAY spokesman some time ago that the ACE which appears on the official banned list as ACE Authentic is actually ACE (Autograph Certification Experts run by Justin priddy) while Rare and Signed is a UK provider.   The official  EBAY banned list has not been updated to correct the ACE listing thus any presentation that doesn't show ACE Authentic has been modified by the poster.  There is more information contained in the comments below regarding the newest additions to the "prestigious" banned list.  Unfortunately, whatever percentage of items that are indeed authentic have been significantly tainted.  (there is a presumption that there are authentic items).

There is also a Moderated Blog for CSC & ACE but mostly focused on CSC that was created after this thread.  A moderated blog means that any comments "added" would have to be approved by the owner of that thread before they become visible.  Unfortunately, there is no way of telling what type of threads they are before posting.  This thread is not moderated nor do I see a reason to have a need to moderate as comments that go to far astray can be removed.   There are however a copy of additional CSC illustrations depicted from ebay.  (end 3-15)

CSC Info borrowed  from the Zipper as I wondered how we missed CSC Collectibles having it's very own thread...

Zipper recommends you avoid items with the CSC Collectibles Certificate of Authenticity / hologram. These worthless COAs appear on the same junky fakes we've seen with the equally worthless Nicholas Burczyk COAsZipper suspects it won't be long before this rubbish COA is banned from eBay as well. Sadly, the criminals who produce these fakes will just produce another phony-baloney authentication COA to slap on the bilge they pump out. It's like COA "whack-a-mole."

One thing to note about these mass-produced fakes is some of them are on 5x7 photos. Now, if you paid big bucks for a private signing with Mickey Mantle, Joe DiMaggio or Ted Williams, would you waste it by having them sign offsize and unpopular 5x7 photos? Of course not. The forgers are so cheap, they probably use 5x7s to reduce costs.

and Cyrkin had noted in another thread on PAAS that CSC's were being removed from EBAY even if they had yet to make the banned list.  The following commentary seems to support this;

rt6junkie said, "i purchased a Mickey Mantle/ Ted Williams signed photo at a bid aution for $75.00..I advertised it on ebay and immediately it was pulled and i was put on notice NEVER to try to sell this again or I would be booted off ebay..I honestly did not know it was fake. Once again ebay acted Too Strong"

How many of these do you have of thse Board Certified Court Qualified Forensice Document types?

Those look awfully familiar, Chris. Who is behind CSC, do you know? The COA alone shows they know they're committing fraud.

I don't know if you could jump to that conclusion yet....

but it would be fascinating to know who exactly is "their" FDE.  I doubt we would ever know or might even suspect because it's not listed that their isn't one... but again speculation on my part.

and we do know at least one FDE on the EBAY banned list not to mention many errors made as depicted in a number of posts.

according to the "Cals web" in part and don't know if it's current; Mark Calamusa started selling and trading baseball cards in 1979. During the 1980's, he started going to area and regional baseball card and memorabilia shows in South Florida.  In 1993, Mark started his own business called CSC Collectibles. He then acquired his auctioneer's license, and began a significant career in sports memorabilia shows and auctions.

It looks like a convention of COAs banned from ebay. Burckzyk, STAT, etc.

Of course there are the obligatory "in-person store signing" photos to create a veneer of credibility.

Here's a tip... when you see an autograph dealer with "warehouse" in the name or description, RUN -- don't walk -- in the other direction.

you forgot to mention "charities".   Reminds me once again of PA's Stans Sporting Goods of OPeration bullpen/foulball fame.   Mixing in good with bad... but when finally caught and now out of business the collectors suffer the ultimate price especially the ones that have authentic ones.

I found the following quite amusing;  Pass On Savings is perhaps not the only thing that is passed.

CSC Collectibles has also been one of the largest purchasers of collections, spending millions over the years on private collections. Many items have also been purchased at other memorabilia shows, and added to our extensive inventory. By purchasing items basically in "bulk", this has allowed us to pass those savings on to our customers

Hey All, new to the site tonight. Just wanted to say hi. I hail from Philly. ( Hey dont throw things, Pottstown and Abington are NOT Philly! ) lol. Just had to be the bearer of bad news to a couple on Philadelphia Craigslist looking to supplement their income by buying sports memorabilia and reselling on CL. They included photos of the Mantle pics they were offering along with pics of the COAS, One from GAI and one from STAT,  Yet another seller in the area was offering a Mantle with a CSC. Such a shame the market is soooo flooded. Makes every legit Mantle suspect.

Craigslist in every city has folks like this. Bad thing is most have figured out by now that what they have is junk. Just trying to recoup their money. Most pretend not to know the stuff is fake yet still tries to sell it even after they've been told.

and regretably alot haven't.

there can be some good finds on CL but you better be really astute.

I once had the pleasure of telling one that what he was selling a Ted Willaims with STAT was about as authentic as the one he had with an FDE on it.  While annoyed he said, "not a problem, I have a father coming over to look at it who wants to buy it for his son as a future investment!"

Word has apparently leadked that CSC Collectibles COA is a nomination for EBay's Banned list.  As such some of the COAs are being modified/masked to a different name.  If someone sees the subterfuge post them hear.

However, if accurate it  appears to be long overdue.  How do we get "academy" voting privileges?

DB, which autographs concern you?  I just took a look at their MMA section which I heavily collect and I didn't see anything that was a red flag.

:bought a mantle from CSC  and they advised me that their authentication is done from Chris Morales a Board and Court Certified Forensic written examiner "
