Dimaggio Ball PSA/DNA

I'm curious what everyone thinks of this ball. In addition to the unusual "angular" nature of some of the letters, the formation of the upper part of the "g" does not look right. I am not looking to buy this, just trying to learn.

I agree that it is a challenge, but there do appear to be certain redundant characteristics that provide a high liklihood of authenticity. When these are missing, it makes me question the autograph, which is why I started this discussion.

Heres another authentic Joe Dimaggio Auto from Joe dimaggio Estates....you can analyze his authentic signature all day but there's so many variations...I have also seen authentic Dimaggio autos were his "G"s looked like "Z"s...its really hard...maybe we can put together a forum of authentic Joe Dimaggio's since he is one of the harder autos to really learn since he his style was so unconsistant..

I think that is a great idea. I would like to see one on mantle and Ted Williams also. As for this Dimaggio, most forgers miss the formation of the upper loop of the "g"s. this one has it correctly. This one doesnt bother me as much as the one that I started this discussion with.

Cee Gee, what do you think of this one? I have had this in my collection for over 20 years. I got it in a trade, and it has always bothered me, which is why I never sold it.

that actually looks the ''Z'' formation for the double "G"'s in his last name i mentioned in my last statement...I have seen very flamboyant style "D"s and "M"s in his style from his retirement days as well....Iam going to post some more to compair to as well...dont be so quick to doubt that ball just yet...

some early versions from the 30s and 40s on top baseballs and later versions I would say from the 60s on the ball and 80s on the tickets...you can see from these examples his autograph changed at least 3 times

i traded for this sight unseen, about 20 years ago. it was thru a friend who had a lot of confidence in the dealer. back then, Dimaggio was doing shows all the time, so I didn't have the forgery fear. It has only been in the last 5 years or so that I started looking closer at it. The two things that bother me are the elongated top of the D. It is very uncommon in his later sigs, although very common in his early ones. and the double g's bother me. what do you guys think? At this point, I am not going to sell it either way, its staying with me.
