Very new to the autograph collecting and im pretty sure I fall in the category or the uneducated retards that leap before they look. I think I know the answer about the Mantle autograph by looking around the I-net,  but what about the others. I have two dimaggio autos and both have different "D"s So either one is fake or both. I'll post the other Dimaggio leter. These were purchase from a local auction that claim they were real. Both have COAs but not from a reputable name based on my reseach.

Also I've looked for a few hours on the I-net trying to find a good site dedicated to fakes. Is there a site or a source that I can go to that will actually show you the difference in the fake and real autos? Or is it just a matter of finding pics of the PSA/DNA authenticated autos and compare?

Thanks for looking.

Hey Ron...welcome to this great site...sorry to be the bearer of bad news but unfortunately all of those pieces in question in my "collectors opinion" are all forgeries...I am not an authenticator...OR an expert...just an experienced collector and seen so many fakes to know whats good and bad and I feel those are all bad...I have been duped before...it happens to everyone....as far as fakes go feel free to check out my pictures I have on my page titled "FORGERY FILES"...its all forged items of the likes of MANTLE WILLIAMS AND DIMAGGIO and others...feel free to browse my pictures anytime to compair fakes to...I update fakes into my forgery file photos at least once a week...sometimes 2 or 3 times if i am really scouting around...MY PHOTOS ARE STRICTLY DEDICATED TO FAKES AND FORGERIES...that may be your best key to look for baseball fakes in particular...at least on this site...I don't know of a site were there are just forgeries...
Thanks for the reply, much appreciated.  What is it that stands out at you that signifies a forgery? I kinda thought it was a long shot for them to be real but after reading http://http://live.autographmagazine.com/forum/topics/mantle-willia... I checked the pen stroke on the "J" and Mantle was lower than the Mickey (easy to fake if your a informed forger i'm sure) . I did notice a few differences in some letters, but I just want to hear what you say to see if I was close. I want to be able to purchase an autograph from some of the greats and be able to pass it down to my kids when they get older. I don't want to pass down a worthless photo.
there's alot that goes into figuring out whats good and bad...the real key I feel and the easiest way to compair whats real and bad is  to look at actual authentic autographs...that's really the best way of all...experience also helps of course but different forgers sign in different fashions or styles if you will...that's why its extremely hard to tell...but the best ones are the examples you have shown...those are basically what i would call "common" forgeries and once you can recognize those it all starts to fall into place...the ones you shown are famous from being done in such high quantity's so there more easy to pick out...not to mention the forgers flaws...most of the time there not even 65% or 75% accurate of what an authentic piece looks like...there are other forgers out there of course...and for the most part...there pretty bad...and not as close....on the other hand those examples you have shown are every where and thousands of people have them displayed in there homes and offices and don't have a clue....sad but true...here's a authentic piece to compair too...there dramatically different..
Heres another exemplar to compair to Ross

Hello and welcome. You are not alone. All collectors are burned at one time or another. I have been burned by three fake Mantles, but it inspired me to really study the signature and learn it. Now I can comfortably buy great signatures and don't have to worry if it has PSA or JSA.  :-)

Unfortunately I agree with CEE GEE... these are not authentic.

One thing to bear in mind is that forgers "learn" signatures. It doesn't come to them naturally like signing your own name. When you "learn" a signature, you do it almost exactly the same every time. It doesn't have the natural variation your own signature may have. So, it easily becomes possible to identify forger's work because all their signatures look unnaturally similar.

The Mantle has an overly dramatic first M and you can tell it is slowly done. It doesn't have the fast flow of a real Mantle signature. The real Mick would sign so quickly his signature often had streak lines. On this example you can tell it was done slowly and you can see where the pen almost stopped in places it shouldn't.  This forgery style is often accompanied by a COA from Nicholas Burczyk, Chris Morales or AAU (Drew Max). They have flooded the market with these.

The Williams probably comes from the same source and you see the same rancid COAs with this fake style. What is quite pronounced in this fake style is the "illiams" is always MUCH lower than the W.

Thanks for the info. Lesson learned

Look at this piece of crap on Ebay listed by seller "313jaybird1219."

they look like they came from the same hand as the 500 HR ball forgeries that are all over the place.
Exactly, Tony.  Thousands of the above forgery were produced.
Sad but true...
