Ebay Seller hazels_house Sells Signed Forged 500 Homerun Club Photo For $253.00.

When does a 500 Homerun Club autographed photo sells for $253.00?

When it's an obvious set of forgeries.

Check out the below laughable set of 500 Homerun Club forgeries on a photo sold by Ebay seller hazels_house for $253.00.

Who is their right mind spends $253.00 on garbage like this!!!

But then again, this crap sells because Ebay is heavily-populated with impulse buyers and delusional autograph collectors.

People who buy this garbage also assume that Ebay filters out the forgeries; if anything, and in my opinion, Ebay is an enabler of this crap because they do nothing about.

Ebay makes a ton of money from the sales of forgeries; the sales of forgeries is a nice steady flow of income.

If you look closely, you will observe all of the forgeries were penned by the same moronic forger.

Yeah, that's pretty horrible. Poor guy who bought it.

Jason, I have no sympathy for the person who bought that.

Hi, haven’t been on here in a while and disappointed that this crap is still being sold on sites like EBay. How can this still be allowed without the authorities getting involved during this day in age? Makes no sense. This is no different then printing fake money and using it. Which, last time I checked, brings jail time.

Lance, nothing will ever be done about this.

It's fact and reality.

Disgusting and sad.

Ebay, at one time, had a team in place that tried to eradicate this garbage, but Ebay eventually terminated that team because, in my opinion, Ebay was losing too much money from the sales of forgeries.

Read my thread below about Ebay and two of their reps at the 2018 National.

Just read your post. Good read. In general, buyers should do their homework before making any autograph purchases. If not, they deserve to lose money. Only an idiot would buy anything other then a PSA, UDA, JSA, Beckett or Steiner signed item these days. I’m a collector + dealer. I sell on eBay and stand behind everything I sell. All items are PSA, JSA or UDA authentic. If it hasn’t been authenticated I’ll provide a lifetime guarantee that it is the real deal or full refund. If buyers want to risk their $$ on garbage so be it. It’s just sad to see that forgeries are as rampant as ever online. I just had a beef with a seller on eBay when I came across numerous Mantle ball forgeries with GFA certificates, which is why I came back here. To search the seller’s name which I found you did a whole write up on. He actually threatened to contact eBay for me calling him out in a message I sent the other day. That led me to believe eBay is truly doing nothing about! Sad.

Here’s a listing of mine that I stand by 100%! Two mantle signed photos that aren’t authenticated. They are both real, yet I receive offers for $150 on a regular basis. Seriously? Won’t find signed photos like this of Mantle from his appearances during the 1980s, while wearing his Members Only jacket nonetheless! :)

Gorgeous, Lance.

One of the influences of those low-ball offers are forgeries on Ebay.

Sad.

Is that $350.00 for both, Lance?

If it is, that's a very good deal.

Yes. Both for $350. Guess I’m a rarity on eBay. But here’s a good example of two Mantle signed items that go unpurchaed because of the forgery dilemma in this industry. Good stuff is mistaken for bad and therefore gets passed up. Sad.

And that's what occurs when the Ebay sellers of forgeries run rampant.

Ebay is an enabler of that crap.

If they profit from it, they are an enabler.

Good point about the fakes hurting the sales of the real autos. I purchased a collection of baseball autos a few years ago from a lady and she had a lot of Williams, DiMaggio and Mantle autos which all came with reputable COAs or were items signed specifically for a company dealing with the players on a regular basis.

I got pretty good prices but for these guys being so commonly forged the price was pretty low compared to what they should have gone for. And for the most part they all went for the minimum bid price with one bidder.

It's kind of like the Charlton Heston secretarial autos. There are so many fake ones it keeps the real ones at a lower price for the seller of the real ones. Anyone who wants a Heston auto and doesn't know better probably winds up buying the fake ttms.

You're right, Jason.

People don't understand that part of what it does to real collectors with authentic autographs.
