Using old receipts, documents, holiday cards, etc. is an old forger tactic. Any object that can be dated back to the correct time period, and obtained for pennies at a flea market.

Yet, this old receipt really takes the cake.

A little research shows around the run of the century the Biddison Coal, Grain and Feed Company had at least one location in Pennsylvania and there appears to be a location in Iowa.

Can anyone fathom why Babe Ruth would be buying oats in July or coal in August... from a company located in Pennsylvania?

That said, given who probably penned this signature, an old receipt from a Pennsylvania located company makes a LOT of sense. ;-)
