Just came across this new resource that will surely be a great asset to not only collectors and dealers but 3rd party authenticators, particularly those who specialize in Sports and often seem to "struggle" with non sports, i.e. Hollywood......(hello out there in PSA land....;} )

About 6-7 years ago there was a web site that tried the same on a monthly membership basis, but did not survive. Hopefully this site will not only survive but grow and became a "standard" reference. And, do we ever we need standards in this industry!! (you'll hear more about that in my post in the next couple days).

A needed site but how do they confirm their exemplars? I have noticed other sources, suc h as RR, have remove photos from their historical results so this is good.
Noticed looking at the Humphrey Bogart autographs inconsistencies. Also noticed it was RR authenticated, but didn't see any other listed authenticators. Not being familiar with RR and having learned here of the questionable practices of some, do these just look like normal variations based on when signed, how signed, how fast, etc?
Does anyone here know of RR auctions?
I am sure after they get 12000 exemplars, opinions will be flying around like hungry bats, but again it is a human created product it will NEVER be perfect, but take a look at what we have now. Hence, a big void and in particular many of the professional authenticators mistakes I would bet are largely traced back to the lack of such a resource.......a huge step in the right direction and maybe one day we will live to see services like PSA start to use STANDARDS, in their analysis process. ...image that ? less guesswork and actually follow something that resembles a "standard process" and set of procedures. ..I for one tip my hat to these brave souls!!!....;}
I agree with Kevin that this new resource of Vintage Hollywood Exemplars was needed very badly.
If there are Professional Authenticators that lack the resources to authenticate whatever it is that they authenticate, they better find a new profession.
My problem here with this new site is that although they banner each page with " Confirmed Exemplars",
they do not tell you what they have used for confirmation.
They do tell you at times who provided the exemplars.
There have been published " Vintage Hollywood Exemplar" Studies by some of the most respected Autograph Dealers and Galleries in the Autograph Industry.
Mr. Lanigan, Camner, Hamilton, Raab, Searle to name a few.
The" Autograph Price Guides" written by George and Helen Sanders and Ralph Roberts are also very good resources for Autograph Exemplars not only of Vinatge Hollywood, but also of other Autograph categories as well.
All of the above are excellant published resources to check for very good Exemplars of "Vintage Hollywood"
I am not aware of any published autograph studies available to the public, that have been written by Mr. Eaton or Mr. Kramer.
If they are out there please let me know.
Are there any published sorces for musicians' signatures?
P
As a forensic document examiner's pov, signature authentication is the aspect of the science that they don't want to get in, because of the fact that there are so many variables. That being said, I am glad that there is a database out there that has exemplars. I was actually starting my own, since it seems of all my peers, I am the only one willing to do this aspect of being a FDE. Anyway, thanks for the link!
