BTW, scenes of this event are on YouTube - there are other clips I think:
1955 Friars Martin & Lewis, MM, etc.
Does it look like you can just walk up on that dais and get things signed "in front of you"?
"...So marilyn monroe wasn't signing autographs at the friars dinner that night ?? It's her signature you believe ..."
No one but you said she wasn't signing that evening. There are other photos of her signing that night and they mean nothing in this context. The signature on your program does not have the attributes of a Monroe signature by her hand. There is no way around this. I'll message Pauline - hopefully she will comment on it.
Ok mr. & mrs. Birdsong were very known people they met a number of the Republican president's personally. They were good friends with Bob Hope & his wife & played golf with them . I really don't understand why it's so hard for you to believe that the autographs are genuine Benny Fields signed in the same pen as the note & marilyn . You can tell by the placement of the autographs the note was there first .
Why? Because that is not Marilyn Monroe's signature. It is actually that simple. Who Mr. and Mrs Birdsong knew is irrelevant in this context.
Why is it so hard for you to see this signature bears no resemblance to the genuine article - I just posted typical in person 1950's MM signatures.
Trying to tell me that they would fake marilyn autograph just to have a faked autograph for themselves ? They didn't need for money or noriatey . That's all right believe what you want it just shows me how you are not very skilled at knowing about autographs . Yes hope fully she will . Look I don't want to argue or disagree with you but I have the provenance to show its real they authenticate autographs with out any . They would have no reason to fake her signature . And you can see Benny Fields autograph is real too written in the same pen and around Dimaggio's .
I do not wish to argue either - I am not :) No, as I already said, it is possible it was passed up the dais and passed back with "a" MM signature, just not hers. Happens all the time. There are other possibilities but what is most obvious is that this is not signed by MM. Look at the images I just posted from the Kuflik Collection. I am not "believing what I want" - I am using my eyes.
What provenance? That words contains "proven" - what do you have that have not shared already? No reason to fake her signature? Not the Birdsongs, but a well meaning person with that pen on the night. It is likely.
If I were you and believed as you do, I would be looking for C. 1956 authentic MM signatures that support yours. I have showed at least 20 known authentic exemplars.
Don't know how you can think that someone else there signed her name ? Even if she didn't hand it to her herself you can see everyone there can see when see would have signed it they were in the same room .
How? Because it is clearly not her signature. The dais scenario I described is very common. One can tell just from this signature alone the signer is not signing his/her own name.
I've asked Pauline to look at this MM - hopefully she will comment.
Trent, follow this link to see a good number in in person Monroe autographs from the Kuflik Collection. Take a good look and then look at yours again...
