many buyers never seek any further authentication IMO.

You never said a truer word, Eric.

I have been active on the internet since pretty much the gitgo - I have some experience.

Ebay feedback has value as an indicator of a seller's customer service qualities. It bears no actual relevance to the authenticity of signed merchandise. None whatsoever.

The public wants what the public gets - as Paul Weller puts it. You only have to look at this website - the best of the various forums available i.m.h.o. Rarely more than 20 members online at any given time. Consider the thousands, tens of thousands of transaction's involving autograph material taking place every hour. Who are these customers consulting?

It's insane. And an invitation to anyone looking to make a quick buck which is why ebay, in particular, is such a cesspit.

Ebay has zero tolerance for complaints about listings - however fraudulent. You are 100 times more likely to be kicked off the site for complaining about fraudulent items than you are for listing fraudulent items.

That is not to say there are many, many honourable, trustworthy sellers on the site.

"The public wants what the public gets" - that seems to be the way of things.

Thanks for the Jam reference - haven't heard that in a while! And some of us still "don't get what this society wants."

"The public wants what the public gets"

It's pretty profound, when you think about it! And I love how he turned it around from "the public gets what the public wants" earlier in the song. A banger! 1980?

This is straight up trolling. Your gripe didn't make much sense to begin with, and it's only grown less coherent. Now you're posting straight pile that looks like it was written by a frustrated 12 year old from some random website? Just stop.

The only reason I’ve cut Martin any slack is because he has been a member of this website for some time, and if he doesn’t agree with my video, no matter how illogical or nonsensical, that’s fine.

But he’s crossed the line into spreading false and defamatory information. First, he was slamming Steve Grad and Beckett, for no apparent reason that had nothing to do with the topic. Now he’s just lashing out to try to damage me. All because I posted a video to help collectors be smarter consumers when buying on eBay. This is the hill he’s going to die on… Don’t criticize eBay feedback system.

The only reason I’ve cut Martin any slack...

Nice.

what a jackass.  any moron with a vendetta can go on these sites and complain.   Let me tell you something, Martin, I have known Steve Z for almost 15 years, and there is no one more honest, and as far as TPA (that would be third party authenticators, just in case you are confused), Steve is one of the best as he focuses on one area only, so he is considered an EXPERT.  the reason why the others get things wrong some of the time is they they authenticate everything. NO ONE is an expert in all areas.   Thanks for sharing your ignorance with all of us.

I actually watched the video again to see if I was missing something. The bottom line is that Ebay feedback is not a barometer for authenticity. It isn't. It's not even a debate. This is Autograph Collecting 101.

At this point, any misinterpretations of the video and its intent really shouldn't remain, so I'm left here wondering if there's something else going on here. Because this makes zero sense on the surface.

The criticism of the video seem to be illogical and contorted logic at best. It’s almost if the poster was coming here with an agenda and waiting for an opening.

Then lo and behold, complete non sequitur, out of the blue bashing of Steve Grad, Beckett, and then me.

I think it became apparent what the agenda was.

I’m going to temporary close this topic because nothing of value is being added at this point. I’m also going to remove the false and defamatory comments.
