Hi, I would greatly appreciate opinions on this Ingrid Bergman signed photo. The green ink threw me a little - was it common for celebrities in Bergman's era to sign in green, or is this automatically a red flag?
No flag here re ink color. Not speaking to authenticity. Lugosi favored green ink, De kelley used to carry it about in his fountain pen as well. I have some beautiful emerald green signatures back to C. 1950. Violet also (many Violet Zane candids were signed in violet, or emerald. I know my Walter Huston Zane candid is in emerald green or Violet, but my 1950 Plummer is in beautiful emerald). Bergman looks a bit older here. By 1960's and esp 1970's, green would be common, later in felt. Nicholson used it for the stills from Cuckoos Nest in 1975...
