Yes it is an original hand drawn sketch signed by Jerry Garcia. I am enclosing a picture of the letter I was given by JSA
What I did after realizing that EC Bryan was not reputable first; because I do not have alot of money was to respond to Roger Epperson offer on line of paying so much for his opinion. Then when he responded with such positivity I looked into having it properly authenticated (or not) I was ready to mail it off to Roger Epperson when I found out that JSA was going to be in town close to my home so I took it to them in person After they had it and evaluated it they informed me it was the real deal and mailed me the paper work of authenticity.
I think part of the confusion here is that the original post was from January. Plenty of time to authenticate between the end of January and yesterday....There wasn't much help on this forum, as most were waiting for the "Dead Heads." (By help, I mean opinions on authenticity, not It seems an opinion from Epperson and authentication by JSA worked faster.
they authenticated the actual drawing itself. I brought it to them personally for them to evaluate it.
JSA dont authenticate art. Only signatures. So JSA did not authenticate the sketch just the autograph. I am not sure who authenticated Garcia's art though.
Does roger authenticate sketches also?
the sketch was authenticated in Feb. I just didn't think anyone was interested.
NOT SURE WHO CLAIMS HE OWNS THE ORIGINAL SKETCH BUT I WOULD LIKE TO SEE A PICTURE OF HIS AS OPPOSED TO MINE TO SEE IF IN FACT IT IS THE SAME.
No one said they owned the original of the sketch. Gratefulphish said he owns one that almost appears a copy of it. His was hand drawn, but he doesn't know if it's exactly the same and can't compare as it's in a safety deposit box.
Paul, you actually do seem to be attacking Diane in that you keep asking if it's an original or copy, to which she has replied to multiple times. You also are now making claims and twisting words in my opinion.
Rock G III does have a point, although JSA did indicate Signed Drawing and not print. Would he sign a blank parchment in that spot? Would he sign someone else's artwork that looks so similar to his own?
It's been deemed a real signature...so...I think the main issues, now, are if the art was actually done by him which seems to be the case judging by Gratefulphish comment, and if it is an original, which Diane indicates it with:
"Oh IT'S NOT A PRINT It is without a doubt original. You can tell by the paper it is on and the ink on the paper as well."
Ah okay, you have asked multiple times, but that being said, one was back in January. Anyway, I hope so too. It looks real in the hi-res scan, but without it being physically present, who knows.
"If" this is somehow a super realistic layered copy of the drawing, It would have had to have been done between 88 and 95 with the signature removed and another autograph gotten in a nice setting. Ah provenance.
